There was a famous name on the trophy at the ANZPT Repechage event held at the Crown in Melbourne, as Anthony Hachem finished top of the pile. Hachem is the son of ex World Series Champion and former Team PokerStars Pro Joe Hachem, and his uncle Tony has also won ANZPT honors. It was a proud family moment for the clan, as Anthony scooped AUD $181,460 in prize money for the win.

The biggest event of Season 5 so far took place at the famous Star Casino in Sydney, as a huge field of 460 players registered for the Main Event. A total of 219 players gathered on the West Coast of Australia for the ANZPT’s latest visit to Perth, where two non-Antipodean players contested an end game which saw Bosnia’s Dejan Divkovic and Japan’s Iori Yogo play out an aggressive heads-up battle. It was over relatively quickly, and Divkovic picked up the title, trophy and AUD $114,000 for the win, and Yogo snagged AUD $72,000 for second place.
Auckland | 207 players | NZD $414,000prize pool | 1st: Geoff Smith (NZD $80,502)
New Zealand’s biggest city Auckland welcomed the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour for its second stop of Season 5 as 207 players turned out, creating a prize pool of over NZD $400,000. The big winner was Geoff Smith who scooped NZD $80,502 after a four-way deal was made at the final table. The final table was also the fastest in ANZPT history, taking only four hours to eliminate eight players and crown Smith champion.
Melbourne | 345 players | AUD $690,000prize pool | 1st: Paul Hockin (AUD $101,275)
A grand total of 345 players made up the field of the first Main Event of ANZPT Season 5. The big winner was Paul Hockin, who secured AUD $101,275 for first place when his A-T made trip Tens to beat heads-up opponent Ashley Warner’s A-Q. Warner collected AUD $130,000 for second after a deal was struck.
