Season 6 Highlights
Melbourne | 516 Players | AUD $ 1,032,000 Prize Pool | 1st Edison Nguyen ( AUD $ 217,500 )
A huge field gathered at the famous Crown Casino in Melbourne, creating a massive prize pool of AUD $1,032,000. Local player Edison Nguyen took the title and AUD $217,500 prize money for the win, adding to the impressive list of live and online achievements already under his belt. A 16-hour day left both heads-up players drained, and the money went in with Nguyen tabling Q-6 and runner-up finisher Corey Kempson holding 6-4. A queen on the flop was enough to hand Nguyen the win.
Perth | 256 Players | AUD $ 512,000 Prize Pool | 1st Patrick Mahoney ( AUD $ 120,000 )
American Patrick Mahoney battled past 255 others to claim the AUD $120,000 first prize in Perth. Mahoney, who recorded his first live tournament win in the process, took the lion’s share of a three-way deal between himself, fellow countryman, Scott Davies, and runner-up Dean Blatt. The duo’s heads-up contest was a close-run race until the final hand, when, with stacks close to even, Mahoney made a full house on the river to beat Blatt’s flopped middle pair.
Auckland | 104 Players | NZD $ 426,000 Prize Pool | 1st David Lim ( NZD $ 110,760 )
David Lim claimed the first title of Season 6 at SKYCITY Auckland for a massive NZD $110,760 in November, 2013. Lim, who in winning become the first Australian to take down an Auckland ANZPT event, saw off fellow countryman Nathan Gubieski heads-up after his pocket queens held over Gubieski’s A-10.
