Imric_est from Estonia wins 2008 WBCOOP

Two players put the Eastern European country of Estonia firmly on the poker blogging map at this year’s World Blogger Championship of Online Poker. Imric_est and Priitk scored an unprecedented one-two finish in the Main Event, both taking home fabulous prizes. Imric_est won the first place prize of a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package, worth $14,300, while his compatriot Priitk claimed an EPT prize package, a SCOOP Main Event ticket, and a Step 6 ticket for second.

The WBCOOP has been one of the biggest things to hit the blogosphere, and the 2008 version was no different. The events were free to enter for bloggers, and thousands of players battled it out over seven events, competing for incredible prizes such as free entries into our biggest live and online events, as well as Steps satellite tickets. In total, we’ve given out $100,000 worth of prizes!

The Main Event saw players from all over the globe compete for the amazing prizes on offer. In total, 369 players qualified for the Main Event from six preliminary events, and the final table featured players from as far afield as Switzerland, Hungary, the UK, US and Brazil, not forgetting the historic double from Estonia.

History of the WBCOOP

The inaugural PokerStars Blogger Championship took place in 2005 and US player easy_wind was victorious, winning a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure prize package. The following year in 2006, the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker was won by Daleroxxu from the UK, who won a ticket to the big one - the World Series Main Event in Las Vegas. While last year, in 2007, the Portugal’s LParreira walked away the big winner - taking first place and a PCA seat worth $12,000.
