- What is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure?
- The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is an European Poker Tour (EPT) sponsored tournament in The Bahamas that PokerStars players can qualify for online. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be held at the Atlantis Resort and Casino on January 5-10, 2008.
- Was this previously a World Poker Tour event?
- Yes. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament used to be a WPT event.
- Is there an agreement I need to sign to appear in a EPT event?
- Yes. A condition of entry into any tournament on the EPT will be the completion and signing of a TV release form, details of which can be viewed at the EPT site under Rules and Regulations.
- Can I play even if I don't sign the agreement?
- No; the agreement is a requirement for participation in the main event.
- How old do I have to be to participate?
- You must be 18 years of age or of legal age of majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is greater) to play either in satellites or in the Event.
- How much does it cost to enter?
- We encourage you to win your entry by playing in one of our satellites. Satellite buy-ins start at $2; there will also be select free satellites where you may use your Frequent Player Points to buy in. If you fail to qualify and would still like to play in the event you may buy directly into the tournament for $7,800+$200.
- How do players qualify for the main event?
- You may qualify one of three ways:
- Win one of our cash satellites.
- Win one of our Frequent Player Point or Tournament Leader board events.
- Buy directly into the event for $7,800+$200.
- Can I purchase a package with W$?
- Yes - provided you are a PlatinumStar VIP or higher. If you meet this criterion, then you may purchase either the PCA package ($11,000) or just the tournament buy-in ($8,000) with W$. Otherwise, you will have to win your way into the PCA via a PokerStars satellite. Of course, you may use your W$ and T$ to buy into our PCA satellites. Please remember, if you use your W$ to buy into this event, you are required to wear PokerStars clothing while you play. - Can I purchase a package with my Frequent Player Points?
- Yes – if you have reached the Supernova level of the PokerStars VIP Club. For more details please contact vipclub@pokerstars.com. Please remember, if you use your FPPs to buy into this event, you will be required to wear PokerStars clothing while you play.
- Can I buy-in to the PCA secondary tournaments with FPPs or W$?
- No. We will not accept W$ or FPPs as payment for any secondary tournaments held at the PCA.
- Can I still buy-in directly for cash?
- Yes. The cost of a tournament buy-in is $7,800 plus $200 entry fee. In addition, we may have packages available; please email pca@pokerstars.com for more information.
- Can I purchase a package by wiring funds?
- Yes. Please email registrations@pokerstars.com for further instructions
- Can I win an entry once I'm in The Bahamas?
- We will be running a super satellite in the Bahamas on Friday night, January 4th. Please check www.pokerstars.com/caribbean-adventure for regular updates on this.
- What if I don't manage to win a seat in the super-satellites?
- You can still purchase an entry directly before the start of the event.
- What is the cap at the event?
- The event will be capped at 1,200 players.
- Will there be more than one starting "flight"?
- Yes. We will have two starting flights on the first two days of the tournament, January 5th Saturday and January 6th Sunday.
- Can I choose my starting flight day?
- You will have an opportunity to express your starting flight preference. We will do our best to give you that day, but we cannot guarantee the day on which you will start.
- What day does the tournament actually start?
- The Day 1A, first flight, will be on Saturday, January 5th.
- Will there be a Welcome Party? Can I bring a guest?
- The Welcome Party will be on Friday January 4th and all players are allowed to bring 1 adult guest. In addition all family members under the age of 18 are allowed to come.
- What is the blind structure and prize structure for the main event?
- You can view the structure by downloading this document.
- Can I buy in into the second flight after the first day starts?
- Yes, if the event hasn’t sold out. You may buy in directly until cards are in the air on the day of the second flight.
- Can I sell or transfer my seat if I win?
- You must play the first seat you win. If you are skillful enough to win additional seats, your PokerStars account will be credited with W$11,000 and $1,000 cash. Please visit our event PCA 2008 Terms and Conditions page for complete details.
- I won! What do I do now?
- You will receive an email from pca@pokerstars.com within a few days of winning your seat. This email will direct you to our registration site where you can complete your registration for the event. This must be completed as we cannot book your hotel room without this required information.
Please note that this email will go to the email address you have on file with PokerStars. Make sure that pca@pokerstars.com (and preferably all emails from the PokerStars.com domain) is permitted via your email spam filter. If you do NOT respond to the registration email, your reservations WILL NOT BE MADE. If you have not received an email from us within 5 days of your win, send an email to pca@pokerstars.com, including a phone number where we can follow up with you.
- Now that I'm going, where can I find more details about the trip?
- Our travel planner, Meridican, will send you an email with a link to a personalized page with details about your trip.
- My package included $1,000 cash. What's that for?
- The $1,000 (which has been credited to your PokerStars account) is for airfare and other travel expenses.
- What is included in the meal plan?
- We will credit your hotel room with $1,000 to be used at any of the Atlantis restaurants over the course of your stay in the Bahamas. The hotel will also give you an extra $150 to be spent for the same purpose. IMPORTANT NOTE: The funds will appear on the hotel folio on the 3rd day of your stay, but you can start using it as soon as you Check-In. Any unused portion of these funds above $10 (minus 15% offered by the Hotel) will be credited back to PS accounts after hotel reconciliation is completed. This may take a few months to complete.
- Will there be other poker games and tournaments I can play while in The Bahamas?
- Yes. There will be cash games of various limits and a selection of other tournaments you can play.

- Is smoking allowed at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure?
- Smoking is not permitted inside the poker room at any time. All games and tournaments are strictly non-smoking.
- Will I have access to my PokerStars account to get cash while I'm at the Atlantis?
- We will make best effort to provide cash outs from PokerStars accounts at the PCA. There will be limited hours each day during which you will be able to get some money from your PokerStars account. The amount you can with draw will be limited by the cash we have on hand at the event, so we will limit individual withdrawals accounting for demand.
Please note that some countries require players to declare the amount of cash they have on them. For example you have to declare if you are bringing in more than $10,000 into the US. It is not illegal to carry more than $10,000 BUT it is illegal not to declare it. For more details please contact your country's Customs & Excise.
- Will I be able to deposit cash into my PokerStars account at the Atlantis?
- Yes. There will be limited hours each day during which you will be able to give us cash to go into your PokerStars account.
- Do I need a passport to get to the Bahamas?
- Yes. All travelers, including U.S. citizens traveling to and from The Bahamas, need to have a passport or other accepted document that establishes the bearer’s identity and nationality to enter or re-enter the United States. This is a change from prior travel requirements. The U.S. Government offers an expedited service whereby a passport can be obtained in about two weeks. Make sure you start working to get your passport now; because of the changes, it can take a long time to get your passport. It is your responsibility to have proper documentation. We have provided links to some passport services below. If your country is not listed, simple Google the word "passport" and the name of your country to find your local passport service.
- Where can I find out more details about the Atlantis resort?
- You can learn more about Atlantis at www.atlantis.com.
- Where can I find out more details about the trip and the tournament?
- We will be posting details from time to time on the PokerStars blog. During the event, this is a great source for family and friends to follow your progress.
- Will PokerStars be providing transportation to the Atlantis from the airport and back?
- No. You are on your own for transportation between the airport and Atlantis. Plan on a cab fare of between $30 to $40 each way. Since you are likely to see other people headed for the Atlantis when you're at the airport (and vice versa), consider finding fellow PokerStars players and traveling with them.
- How will I get paid if I win the tournament?
- We will allow you to take a portion in cash. The rest can be deposited into your PokerStars account or wired directly to your bank account.
- Will taxes be withheld from my winnings?
- No. You are personally responsible for paying all required taxes in your home country on your winnings.
- Will I be required to wear PokerStars gear during the PCA event?
- If you win an FPP satellite, a TLB qualifier you are obliged to wear PokerStars gear throughout the event. You will also be required to wear PokerStars clothing if you buy in with your Frequent Player Points or W$, or are a VIP guest. Any player that makes the final table is required (per our PCA 2008 Terms and Conditions) to wear PokerStar gear, subject to EPT restrictions.
- Will money be withheld from the prize pool for dealer tokes?
- Yes, 3% of the prize pool will be reserved for dealers and tournament staff. You are more than welcome to contribute any additional amount you like from your winnings.
