Vlad Zguba

Poker pro Vlad Zguba is from the Ukraine, and previously worked as a lawyer and an economist. But after years of working hard, he decided that he wanted more from his life. He’d been playing poker for a few years and decided to make it his new full time occupation - a decision that seems to be paying off.

Since turning pro, Vlad has played at many of Europe’s biggest events, picking up some impressive results along the way. He came close to winning his first significant title when he finished as runner-up in the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the Black Sea VIP Poker Festival in 2008, taking home prize money of $22,087. A year later, Vlad travelled to play at the San Remo leg of the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Season 6 - a tournament that turned out to be the biggest ever held in Europe. Vlad battled his way through the huge field of 1,178 players to finish in 46th place, good for a cash of $20,168. This was followed by victory in Season 2 of Star of Poker, a poker TV show on Ukraine’s national channel.

In his down time away from the poker table, Vlad enjoys reading classic literature, especially works by Dante and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. He also likes to keep himself fit in the gym, and relaxing afterwards in the sauna. Vlad’s other passion is travelling, and thanks to poker he now gets to see the world, looking for the next big event. He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘Vlad Zguba’.
