Estrellas Poker Tour - Season 1 Recap
Season 1 of the PokerStars Estrellas Poker Tour came to an end in Barcelona, held as part of the European Poker Tour (EPT). Sweden’s Kent Lundmark took the EPT Main Event title, but there were also top 20 finishes by four local players from Spain, including Jesus Cortez Lizano, who came 2nd for a huge cash of €525,000.
Hundreds of players from Spain, Europe and beyond competed in Season 1 events, including Team PokerStars Pros like Juan Macerias and Juan Manuel Pastor, alongside PokerStars qualifiers from around the world. New Champions were crowned at every stop along the way, with players from Spain taking the first three titles. Vedast Sanxis won the first-ever event with victory in Malaga for a cash of €60,970. This was followed a month later by a win in Alicante for Pepe Martinez, good for €70,148. The action then moved to the nation’s capital Madrid, where Marc Colome took down the main event for €67,519. The season ended in Barcelona, where Alvaro Marino locked up the Season 1 Leader Board after an incredible run that included final table appearances in Alicante and Madrid.
