Welcome to the latest edition of the PokerStars newsletter, filled with news and details on the latest tournaments, promotions and happenings. Of course, we’ve got to brag just a little about our achievements over the last few weeks, like our 10 Billionth Hand, loads of winners, and having our biggest Sunday Million ever!
We hope that you enjoy it.
Ocean's Thirteen - PokerStars goes Hollywood
This summer has seen the Hollywood blockbuster "Ocean's Thirteen" hit the silver screen, and PokerStars teamed up with the film's main cast, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle, as well as producer Jerry Weintraub, in raising much-needed funds for the residents of Darfur, Sudan.
PokerStars donated $1 million to Not On Our Watch (NOOW), a charity project founded by the cast and producer of the movie, and PokerStars players were given the opportunity to contribute to the project as well.
Two charity tournaments were set up, with all proceeds generated being matched by PokerStars and donated to Not On Our Watch. Players taking part in the tournaments had the opportunity to win unique prizes, and eight lucky players were treated to a red carpet experience in either Cannes or Los Angeles for the Ocean's Thirteen premieres.
As a sign of gratitude for our involvement with Not On Our Watch, the Ocean's Thirteen cast held a special photo shoot in Cannes, which included the signing of a special PokerStars baize.
Visit our web site to view pictures from the event.
The one-of-a-kind table baize will be up for grabs in a forthcoming PokerStars tournament, so keep your eye on our website for details.
The BIG 10 Billion - Poker shoots for the stars!
And big it certainly was, with double VPPs & FPPs, added money tournaments, freerolls, cash prizes and more. It was a party that saw records being smashed and loads of players becoming winners.
Thousands of players proved that knowledge is not only power, but can make you some cash too, in the Trivia Freerolls.
The PokerStars Sunday Million on May 20th exceeded all expectations with a massive 10,894 players taking part, making it the most highly attended buy-in tournament (online or land-based) in history!
However, the moment everyone had been playing for occurred on May 19th 2007, at a six-handed $0.01/$0.02 table. We reached an incredible milestone, dealing our 10 Billionth Hand! Ultimately, it would be justine0003 that would walk away with the $100,000 grand prize. To read more about our BIG winner and all the news during the celebration, visit the PokerStars Blog.
PokerStars would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all our players for helping us make this amazing feat possible.

Q. How do you prepare for the *World Series of Poker?
A.Getting fit and physically strong is very important to me because it means I will have more stamina during the long periods of play. I visit the gym about three times a week and walk and bike a fair bit. During the World Series, I only have fruit for breakfast/lunch and a light meal for dinner with one beer to relax after the day is over. This way I never feel lethargic during play. At the moment, I am on a white meat diet and will not eat red meat until end of August.
Subconsciously, I start thinking about my game plan a few weeks prior to playing. I don't plan to do it. I just find myself considering different options, especially when I am in bed. I examine the chip start banks, the structures, and what my potential opponents will be like. Then I try to work out what style to play on Day 1, as this is one of the most important times in any tournament--for me anyway. I believe if I can get through the first day with some chips then I have a good chance of getting very deep.

Thanks,
I wanted to thank you guys for giving me the opportunity to participate in such a great player loyalty rewards system.
I did really enjoy the weekly Saturday VIP tourneys; especially the Supernova VIP tourney and I think it's great that you continue to provide your valued players with such outstanding freeroll tournaments weekly.
I also enjoyed browsing the VIP Store as I feel you offer the best merchandise to your customers, as compared to any other site. So thank you for the opportunity. Thanks a lot.

Charity Poker - It's all about giving something back
PokerStars has always played an active role in supporting various charitable causes and organizations. In addition to the Ocean's Thirteen charity involvement, we supported the Life Ball and the Virginia Tech Memorial Fund.
Life Ball is Europe’s largest AIDS relief and
research fundraiser, and PokerStars players were given the opportunity
to play in charity tournaments which would not only help in raising
money for the charity, but could see them winning an exclusive package
to attend the Life Ball in Vienna, Austria. Read more about
it on the PokerStars Blog.
Virginia Tech - Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund
In the wake of the tragedy at Virginia Tech, PokerStars and its players stepped up to help those affected by running a $20 buy-in fundraiser tourney.
PokerStars sponsors the Isle of Man TT Races
The Isle of Man TT celebrated its Centenary this year, marking 100 years of road racing, and PokerStars was proud to be one of the chief sponsors. Undoubtedly the biggest road race in the world, it saw tens of thousands of motorcycling enthusiasts and spectators alike come to the island to view and take part in the two weeks of festivities and of course, the high octane racing.
Some of the most exciting moments of the 2007 Centenary TT involved PokerStars sponsored riders. Dave Molyneux and Rick Long claimed two victories in the side car events and firmly cemented their place as the most successful driver and passenger in the history of the TT.
See all the Tourist Trophy racing action here.
PokerStars qualifiers win millions in EPT
The European Poker Tour was once again the place for PokerStars qualifiers to shine. In the EPT Season 3 Grand Final, PokerStars qualifiers took home almost $5 million out of the nearly $9 million prize pool in the richest poker event Europe has ever seen.
Ultimately it was PokerStars qualifier Gavin Griffin who stole the show, sporting a pink hairdo (to find out why, click here) and playing some ferocious poker - winning him the EPT Grand Final title and €1,825,010. His monster win started with just a $240 Double Shootout at PokerStars.com.
