The action starts online, where you can win a place on your country’s team and qualify for the live final. Get ready for over four weeks of online qualification that will determine which eight countries will participate at the live final.
The live final will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay on August 8-9. It's a once in a lifetime trip that gives you the chance to visit one of South America's biggest and most colorful cities - and play poker for cash and the glory of your country while you are there. See below to find out how you can represent your nation.
As mentioned there is $100,000 on the line but also an accolade which money cannot buy – The Americas Cup of Poker Championship! Canada come into the tournament, as current Americas champions and will be hoping to be the first nation to retain that crown. Who will stop them? Your country needs you, so answer the call and make it count!
Here’s how it works
From March 18-April 13, players in the nine countries listed below have the chance to help their nation make it to the live final: USA, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil and Argentina. Don’t worry if your country is not listed, all remaining Latin America countries are invited to play as ‘Rest of LatAm’, taking the total number of teams to 10.
All 10 countries will play against each other in a league format, with each country vs. country match lasting three days. Day one and two of each match will be comprised of freeroll, $0.11 and $1.10 tournaments. Day three will be known as the Power Play, this is an $11 buy-in tournament, with more points on the line. If that’s a little expensive for your tastes, don’t worry, as buy-ins generated during the first two days tournaments, will go towards entries for day three. So place amongst the top positions during day one or two and you’ll automatically receive entry into day three’s, $11, Power Play tournament.
Points will be awarded based on finishing positions in each tournament (see points page for more details). The country with the most points accumulated in each match will win that fixture. You’ll be playing to score as many points as you can in order to take a place on your team. The four players who accumulate the most points over the course of the promotion will represent their country at the live final should they make it. See below for schedule information.
When all the matches are complete, the six countries with the most wins will automatically qualify for the live final. The remaining four teams will then play off for the final two positions. Check out the Match Schedule page to see who your country is playing and when.
