Americas Cup of Poker
Represent your country and win $100,000!
The PokerStars Americas Cup of Poker is a team event that will see qualifiers and Team PokerStars Pro compete for their country at a live event held in Argentina, with a $250,000 prize pool on the line. The action starts online, where you can help your team qualify for the live final. The eight teams who win qualification through their group will then make it to Argentina to play for the huge cash prize.
The live tournament will take place at a ski resort in Bariloche, situated against the backdrop of the Andes, in the region of Patagonia. It’s the trip of a lifetime that gives you the chance to explore one of South America’s most beautiful regions - and play poker for cash and the glory of your country while you are there. See below to find out how you can be part of the team that will represent your nation.
Poker is all about winning big money, but it’s also about pride. And there’s no greater sense of pride than the feeling you get when you represent your homeland. Your country needs you, so you better make it count.
Here's how it works
Players in the following 16 countries have the chance to compete and help their nation make it to the live final: USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Canada, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Guatemala, Panama and Honduras.
If you are in one of these countries, you can play in any of the Americas Cup of Poker daily tournaments. Participating countries have been split into groups, and each will face-off against each other week by week. During each weekly round, you can play in any or all of the daily freerolls, $0.20 or $5.50 tournaments for your country. You’ll be playing to score as many points as you can for your team (see below for how points are awarded). See below for group and schedule information. To register, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Tourney’ and ‘Regional’.
When all the group matches are complete, the two countries with the most wins in each group will go on to the live final in Argentina. Check out the Country Rankings page for the latest national rankings.

Points
Players finishing in the top 100 in each group tournament will be awarded points for their country. Visit the Points page to see the payout structure. The top two countries with the most wins in each group will make it to the live final. We’ll be keeping you updated with the latest results on the Country Rankings and Player Rankings pages.
Fund Friend
Give your country's qualifying chances a boost by making sure all your friends play! Use our 'Player to Player' transfer feature (conditions apply) to transfer as little as $1 to a friend so they can play in a $0.20 tourney and join your national fight for points. As a reward for your generosity, we will award $50 to anyone who makes a transfer to a player who uses it to play in a $0.20 tournament and makes a final table.
Live Final
A total of eight teams will advance from the group stages to the live final in Argentina (the two countries with the most wins from each of the four groups). Each team will be made up of the five players that won the most points for their team during the group stage (for Wildcard countries, the team will be made up of the top four point scorers and the player that won the freeroll that gave their nation entry into the group stages). The eight finalist countries will then battle for their share of the $250,000 prize pool. And to boost your country's chance of winning the big cash, we are adding a member of Team PokerStars Pro to each team!
The payout structure at the live final will be as follows.
| Position | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1 | $100,000 |
| 2 | $60,000 |
| 3 | $30,000 |
| 4 | $20,000 |
| 5 | $10,000 |
| 6 | $10,000 |
| 7 | $10,000 |
| 8 | $10,000 |
$10,000 9th place playoff
The third placed country in each group will send a team to a $10,000 online playoff. The team will consist of the five highest points scorers (four if the country qualified through the preliminary round with the fifth spot going to the player who won the preliminary freeroll).
Each member of the team will compete in a single table tournament with one player from each other team. The team with the lowest average finishing position across the five single table tournaments will win $10,000 to share equally. In the event of a tie, the tied teams will share the prize equally between them.
