The annual Life Ball is Europe’s largest and most prestigious charity event, dedicated to the fight against AIDS.  Celebrating its 15th year jubilee and once again taking place in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria, on May 26th 2007, it’s gearing up to be an event to remember. 

This year, PokerStars will be one of the main sponsors and exclusive poker partner of the Life Ball and of course there’s going to be plenty of poker action leading up to and during the ball.  However, this time in addition to fun and glory, playing poker has one main purpose: collecting donations for AIDS relief and research!

Life Ball is just that: a colorful celebration of life which brings people together from diverse backgrounds, including business, art, entertainment, fashion, media and more. * Part of the Life Ball festivities this year will be a charity poker tournament held by PokerStars, giving selected celebrities and a few very fortunate PokerStars qualifiers the chance to play poker together for a $100,000 prize courtesy of PokerStars – which will be donated to this worthy cause**.

As of today you can play in our daily “AIDS Charity” – Freerolls which runs at 2pm EST (8pm CET).  Players who place 1-27 in each freeroll will play in an online final scheduled for May 6th or May 20th respectively, where they will have the chance to win an exclusive Life Ball package. * Last year Life Ball raised over €1 million in a single night which was used in direct help for AIDS patients as well as AIDS research projects. The money raised does not only stay in Europe but is used to fund international projects like the American Foundation for Aids Research (amfAR) and the Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF).

** The $100,000 only refers to a donation, which will be presented to the Life Ball on PokerStars behalf by the winner of the live tournament.
