The Romanian Poker Championship is back, and you can qualify for free for this tournament which, in 2009, received many positive reviews from the participants and from the media! Cash qualifiers are also running now in a range of buy-ins starting from $5.50, which means you’ve got a great chance of making it all the way to the live event. This championship will attract some of the best players from Europe and beyond, all sitting down to play for big money.
It all takes place in the luxurious surroundings of the Radisson SAS Hotel in the nation’s capital Bucharest, May 2-6. This five-star hotel will be your home for the duration of the tournament as you make your play at being the next Romanian Poker Champion! The live event will be No Limit Texas Hold’em and is organized by the National Sport Federation of Poker in Romania and sponsored by PokerStars.
Qualify online and you can win a Romanian Poker Championship II prize package worth $2,990 which includes $1,617 tournament buy-in, hotel accommodation and $470 for travel expenses. Online qualification for Romanian Poker Championship II runs March 30-April 25, see below for details. You can find the cash qualifiers in the PokerStars lobby by selecting ‘Events’ and ‘Special’.

Please note: This event has a minimum age of 18 and requires guests to show their passport or current ID at registration. The dress code for the live event is ‘smart casual’, so no ripped jeans, sandals, shorts or string vests are permitted. Also, players travelling from outside Romania must have a valid passport and all relevant visas where required.

History of the Romanian Poker Championship
The inaugural Romanian Poker Championship took place in November 2009 at the World Trade Plaza in Bucharest and was a landmark occasion. The event attracted the best players from Romania including Alain Medesan, Cristian Dragomir, Cristian Rajala,Cristian Tardea, Ciprian Hrisca and Mihai Manole, as well as 2003 World Series winner and Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker from the USA.
A total of 339 players contested the Main Event, with Cristian Dumitrescu emerging victorious, claiming the title and €51,666 in first place prize money. PokerStars supplied the field with 51 players through online qualification and direct buy in, and Marius Dunca and Dan Gabriel Baloi both won satellites to EPT Prague. Last year was a big success, and this year will be even better, and you can qualify for free now!
