PokerStars smashes its own Guinness World Record!

The world’s largest poker site has entered the records books once again, this time by smashing its own Guinness World Record for the largest online poker tournament. A staggering 149,196 of you registered to play in the latest World Record event, making it the biggest tournament ever.

This attempt completely eclipsed the previous mark of 65,000, set by PokerStars in July 2009. The record-breaking $1 tournament began at 14:45 ET on December 27, 2009 and was won by oskar69 who collected $50,000 for first place. A massive 30,000 players got paid, and the turbo tournament took a little under six hours to play out. See the PokerStars Blog for a full report of the tournament.

It was a big achievement to break the record, but to more than double the number of players was simply incredible. Congratulations to everyone that took part - all 149,196 of you!
