Practice For Free

All of the games PokerStars offers can be tried for free! Simply follow the steps outlined below to get in on the action.

STEP 1 - Select the Game or Tournament You Would Like to Play

To learn about the different poker games on offer, visit the Poker Games webpage.

STEP 2 - Locate FREE Play Tables Once you have clicked a Game or Tournament tab, click on the ‘Play Money’ Tab. In some cases the play money tables will have their own tab, in others you can find Play Money games by scrolling down through the Real Money tables as shown in example 2.

Example 1: Example 2: Note: Free play money games always start with the word "Fun".

STEP 3 - Pick a Limit and Start Playing Scroll down until you find the limit of your choice. All new Play Money accounts start with 1,000 play chips. Starting at a 1/2, 5/10 or 10/20 game will ensure that you have plenty of chips to play. Double click on the game you want to join and it will take you to the table.

Please Note: Table Group Mode The first time you go to the Play Money tab, you will see that the tables are organized in groups: In this mode, you just have to select the type of table you want to play at. Click ‘Play Now’ and you will automatically be seated at the table of your choice. If you prefer the traditional List Mode, you can go to ‘Options’ -> ‘Lobby Display Options’ and uncheck the ‘Play Money’ alternative under ‘Group Similar Tables’.

STEP 4 - Sitting Down at a Table Once you have found the game you would like to join you can start playing by clicking on any of the seats marked "Seat Open".

STEP 5 - Reloading Your Play Money chips If you ever ‘go bust’ and you would like to get more FREE Play Money chips you can get 1,000 more Play Money chips 3 times every hour.

Play Money Rake & Tournament Fees

Our goal at PokerStars is to create the most realistic online poker room experience as possible, and this commitment extends to our Play Money offerings. In our Ring Games, a small portion (less than 5%) of the pot is taken from every hand that goes past the first betting round. In our tournaments, the fee consists of a small percentage of the buy-in and is paid upon registration.
