2003 World Series Main Event Challenge Rematch
*WSOP and World Series of Poker (referred to from now on as the Main Event and/or World Series)
Chris Moneymaker vs. Sam Farha, Round 2
The final heads-up match at the 2003 World Series Main Event was one of the most exciting in recent memory. It pitted Chris Moneymaker, whose tournament experience consisted almost entirely of tournaments played on PokerStars, against Sam Farha, an experienced high-limit poker player. Chris Moneymaker emerged as the 2003 World Champion, winning a $2.5 million first prize, with runner-up Sam Farha taking home a cool $1.2 million.
On September 14, you have a front-row seat for the return engagement of Moneymaker vs. Farha. PokerStars is sponsoring a challenge match between these two great players. Each player is putting up $15,000 of their own money, and PokerStars is adding $10,000, for a total prize pool of $40,000. Chris and Sam will play heads-up, no limit hold 'em, until there is only one man standing - and that man will take home the entire $40,000 prize pool.
And on September 28, it gets even better. Using new replay technology we've just developed, PokerStars will re-run the event, with cards exposed so you can see exactly how the event played out. Join us and our commentators, acclaimed author Lee Jones and veteran tournament and high-limit player Daniel Negreanu, for a play-by-play description as the challenge match of the year is replayed.
