For the first time in the history of the World Cup of Poker, an American team has brought the championship home to North America. Team USA faced Teams Canada, Iceland, and Romania in the final four of the World Cup of Poker IV and emerged with the victory. Players Tyler Netter, Randy Principe, Greg Raymer, John Kenlan, and Shaun Deeb represented their country with a combination of aggressive play and national pride. What is the PokerStars World Cup of Poker?
The PokerStars World Cup of Poker is a worldwide competition between national teams of poker players that pits team vs. team and country vs. country. Players from all around the world compete for national pride, bragging rights, and $250,000 cash on the line.
It begins online at PokerStars.com, where players compete first to represent their national or regional team in a series of freerolls. Once the team members have been decided, the teams then battle it out in a series of Divisional and National play-offs to claim their spots at the live finals.
The eight finalists receive all-expenses-paid trips to play live in Barcelona, Spain. There, the teams compete in a televised tournament to determine the PokerStars World Cup of Poker IV Champion.
