Benjamin Kang took up poker after a visit to a casino in Reno, Nevada, and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s a regular on the EPT as well as all the big tournaments in Las Vegas. In his pre-poker days, he was a business consultant, but now enjoys the poker lifestyle, travelling the world and playing in the best tournaments he can find.
Benjamin’s first big result came in 2006 at the European Poker Masters in Paris, when he scooped $100,354 for second place. He has a number of European Poker Tour cashes to his name, beginning with an 11th place finish at EPT Warsaw in Season 3 for $19,199. He then made further cashes in Season 4 and 5, at EPT San Remo and the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo respectively. He’s a regular on the tour and is often high up in the chip counts as the tournaments unfold. After discovering the game in Reno, it’s hardly surprising that Benjamin has also found success on the other side of the Atlantic. His biggest score came in the US at a WSOP* circuit event at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas where he picked up $70,768, and he’s also performed well at the World Series, finishing in tenth place in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event in 2007 and going deep in the 2009 Main Event for a cash finish.
When he’s not playing top-level poker events Ben likes to ski, sail and spend time at the beach. He’s also involved in the poker industry in his native Germany, appearing on a Web TV show. He’s incredibly proud to join the PokerStars team and is looking forward to competing in the biggest and most prestigious poker tournaments around the world. Benjamin Kang is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays under the screen name ‘BenKang’.
