Belgium’s Charlotte Van Brabander made a name for herself on the gaming circuit, competing at international events and conventions around the world, with Counter-Strike as her game of choice. She also writes a regular column for a gaming magazine. But like many a pro gamer before her, Charlotte has recently started to make the switch to poker.

She started off modestly at local home games, before moving on to tournaments online around two years ago, developing her skills and learning the game fast. Now armed with some great strategy advice learned from Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso’s poker boot camp, personal coaching sessions with Matthias and Christophe De Meulder and books written by Daniel Negreanu, Charlotte has stepped her game up and started playing major events on the live circuit and online. The advice from the pros seems to be paying off, as Charlotte finished in 25th place in the Main Event of the first-ever Benelux Championship of Online Poker in December, 2010 - an impressive result considering the calibre of the field.

She’s now looking for her first major live result, and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Rousso, Vanessa Selbst and Liv Boeree, inspired by their ability to make such a big impact in a game all too often still dominated by men.

Charlotte is also currently studying Criminology and Law at university, and has her sights set on a career in the same field, ideally specializing in human rights. She likes to hang out with friends in her spare time, but is fully focused on her making it big in the poker and gaming worlds. With so much determination and decent results already under her belt, Charlotte is most definitely a face to look out for. She is a Friend of PokerStars and plays online using the screen name ‘Sjlot’.
