George Danzer

George Danzer from Germany studied micro-engineering in Freiberg, and is a former top-level chess player who also played Starcraft and other strategy based games. He also plays golf and loves all ball sports, but it’s the game of poker where he has settled and where he makes his money.

George has found plenty of success at the tables, including some good results in Las Vegas. He started his live career on the European circuit, making cashes at events in Paris and Dublin. His first big live result came when he finished third in the World Heads-Up Championship in Barcelona in 2006. From there he went on to cash in the biggest tournament in the world, the WSOP* Main Event. He competed in the largest ever field for a live poker tournament of 8,773 players and finished in 305th place scooping $38,759. In 2007 George returned to the World Series and made a final table appearance in a Pot Limit Omaha event, taking home $13,597 and more elite-level poker experience. He regularly plays events on the European Poker Tour, cashing at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in The Bahamas and at the Season 5 Grand Final in Monte Carlo, where he finished in 24th place for $68,372. George picked up a huge win online in September 2009, when he took down Event 19: $320 Pot Limit Omaha in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), worth $109,545.

Being a sponsored professional poker player has always been one of George’s goals, and he’s achieved it by signing for Team PokerStars Pro. He’s looking forward to representing the world’s largest poker site and continuing as a winning player. George is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays under the screen name ‘GeorgeDanzer’.
