Portuguese poker pro Henrique Pinho studied at The University of Porto, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Management, before working as an intern for an insurance company and in the marketing department of a major food company. Then he found his true calling in the poker world.
Henrique caught the poker bug after watching the PokerStars European Poker Tour on TV back in 2005. Fascinated by what he saw, he began to research the game by reading online forums and books, and gradually learned the skills he would need to make it big. Next step was to make a real money deposit online, and it was only a matter of months before he’d spun his original €50 balance up to a four-figure bankroll. Nowadays, Henrique is crushing the online game on a consistent basis, with an all-rounder approach that sees him play wide range of games across many different levels. He even came close to winning a PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title in May 2010 when he finished 3rd in a PLO event for a cash of $24,079. He claims his success online is mainly down to good bankroll management and good planning - skills that some online poker players often neglect. Henrique has also performed well at live tournaments, picking up cashes in various events across Europe, including money-finishes on the European Poker Tour (EPT).
When he isn’t playing poker, Henrique is a sports junkie who likes everything from tennis, football, table tennis, skiing in the winter and even kickboxing. He’s also a big fan of local soccer team FC Porto. He spends as much time as he can with his friends and family, and also enjoys travelling the world as often as he can.
Now that he’s representing his homeland as part of the most elite team of pro players, Henrique enjoys proving to the world that he has what it takes to succeed on the global poker scene. He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name‘ Henrique.P’.
