Jake Cody is one of the UK’s most successful poker players. He hails from Rochdale, England, and learned to play poker at local home games with friends. It was the perfect way to learn fast, and by his late teens Jake was winning big enough to be able to turn pro.
He has achieved a phenomenal set of results since arriving on the circuit in 2009, with live career earnings of more than $3,000,000, plus hundreds of thousands of dollars more online. His rise towards the top of the game started in November 2009 with a runner-up finish in a $1,060 6-Max event at the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). Then, in January 2010, Jake officially made it to the big league when he won the European Poker Tour (EPT) Deauville Main Event for $1,213,194. It started a run of major title wins that quickly earned Jake a reputation as one of the most skilled players the UK has ever nurtured.
Jake added the World Poker Tour (WPT) London title and $425,492 to his résumé in August 2010, before his next big win came online, this time in a $2,100 No Limit Hold’em event at the 2011 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), worth $234,738. But he wasn’t done for the year just yet. Jake travelled to Las Vegas in June, before maneuvering his way through a heads-up field jam-packed with poker’s biggest names to win his first World Series of Poker* bracelet. It was good for a massive $851,192 payday, but also meant that Jake had completed the elusive Triple Crown, having bagged an EPT, WPT and World Series title. He rounded-off 2011 with a near-miss at the World Series of Poker Europe* Main Event, busting in 7th for $200,379. Now Jake is aiming to become the first-ever two-time EPT winner, and came close in 2013 when he finished 5th in the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final Main Event for $329,124. When PokerStars launched a live poker room in London in 2013, it was fitting that the winner of the first major event was none other than Jake Cody. He won the UKIPT Series 1 event for a cash of $29,798.
