Martin Hrubý is a poker player from the Czech Republic. He started a hospitality business after finishing high school, and began playing poker online for fun at PokerStars in 2000. Seven years later he had built up enough skill to make it his new full time job, and he’s been playing professionally ever since.
Martin has racked up an impressive run of results in many of PokerStars biggest online tournaments. He cashed for $30,530 after finishing 6th in the Sunday Million in early 2007, followed later in the same year by a 4th place finish in the Sunday Warm-Up for another $24,252. He also finished 5th in the PokerStars Sunday 500 in 2009 for $25,839, and added a huge cash of $92,560 to his bankroll after finishing runner-up in a 2nd Chance tournament in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). He’s also found success on the live scene with titles and cash finishes at events around the world, including tournaments in Nova Gorica, Prague, Vienna, and two money-finishes at the WSOP* in Las Vegas. The highlight of his career so far came on home soil in Season 1 of the PokerStars Czech-Slovak Poker Tour (CSPT). Martin entered the CSPT Brno Main Event and won, taking home the title and prize money of $21,240. He also cashed for $17,000 at the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) after finishing 150th, and made a deep run at the EPT Season 6 Monte Carlo Grand Final, finishing 22nd for $66,546. Its results like these that have helped Martin become one of the Czech Republic’s highest earning poker players of all time.
With a strong record of live and online results, Martin looks set to be a name to watch in the future. You’ll find him playing at the biggest events on the circuit, representing the team and looking to take down his next major title, proving he has what it takes to rise to the top. Martin is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘AABenjaminAA’.
