Noah Boeken

Noah Boeken was born in Holland and currently resides in Amsterdam. Similar to a number of other young poker players from his generation, Noah’s first experience of tournament card play was through his interest in the strategy game Magic: The Gathering. His talent for this gave him the chance to travel around the globe and he went on to become a tournament champion.

Having now conquered the world of Magic, Noah was ready to find a new outlet to occupy his mind and soon discovered the game of poker. He began playing online in 2001 and it wasn’t long before success started coming his way. In fact, he quickly found he could make more money at the tables than he ever could playing Magic. It was also around this time that Noah made the decision to drop out of his economics degree at university to focus full time on playing poker. Noah was keen to start playing live too, and began visiting Dutch casinos on a regular basis. It was on one of those visits that he met Marcel Luske, a player who at this point was already a legend of the game. The two men struck up a close friendship, with Luske acting as a long term mentor to the young Boeken.

Since then, Noah has chalked up an impressive list of live tournament cashes and titles, particularly on the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour. His first significant EPT success came at the London leg of Season 1, where he finished in 6th place for a payout of $30,196. Just a few months later, Noah found the victory he was looking for when he took down the Copenhagen leg of the tour, earning $191,355. He has also cashed several times in WSOP* events. Most recently, Noah earned $201,032 for finishing 4th in the €5000 event at the 2007 Master Classics of Poker in Holland, taking his total live tournament earnings to just shy of a million dollars. In addition to his achievements on the live circuit, Noah has also continued to find success online, topping the PokerStars Tournament Leader Board three times.

Living the poker lifestyle keeps Noah pretty busy, but when he isn’t at the table actually playing, he enjoys travelling and can also be found hosting various poker shows on Dutch television alongside Marcel Luske.

The best is no doubt yet to come for Noah and he now has his sights set firmly on winning his first WSOP* bracelet. With the skill and dedication he has for the game, it’s surely only a matter of time before he fulfils this dream.
