Nuno Coelho

Playing poker started as a relaxing hobby away from the office and courthouse for successful lawyer Nuno Coelho, but it now takes up so much of his time he views it as a second job. A keen fan of strategy games, the Portuguese national loves the psychological aspects of poker, and his background in law has helped him to read people at the tables. Indeed one of his mottos, which best sums up his poker game is: 'play the player, not the cards'.

Despite being a keen live and online player, Nuno is still waiting for that big first result to move his career onto the next level. He has had plenty of success in local tournaments in Portugal, including the popular Solverde Season. He also represented his country at the 2007 PokerStars World Cup of Poker at the Gran Casino in Barcelona, playing brilliant aggressive poker to win Heat Five and earn 15 points for his country. Unfortunately his efforts weren't quite enough as Portugal finished in fifth place, with the USA, running out eventual champions.

Away from the tables Nuno loves to read and is a big fan of biographies, another clue to his fascination with the psychological side of people and what makes them tick. He also likes going to the movies and looking after his pet dog.

Joining Team PokerStars Pro is a dream come true for Nuno. It's a big honour for him and he's proud to be part of the best team of poker players in the world. He hopes to learn from his team mates and keep improving his game - in search of that career defining breakthrough win.
