Sami Selio

Sami Selio is best known for being a Flying Finn – he’s a famous powerboat racer – but he’s also a Team PokerStars Pro SportsStar. Sami calls the hi-octane world of Formula 1 Powerboating home, and when he’s not piloting boats at over 150mph he likes to play poker, and you can find him online and live at PokerStars events.

His first big powerboating success came in 1990 in when he won the Finnish Championship, and from there he worked his way through the Formulas eventually debuting in Formula 1 in 1998. That year he won Rookie of the Year and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s always in the mix in the Formula 1 standings, and went close to glory in 2005 when he finished second overall. Sami went one better in 2007, when he finally became Formula 1 World Champion – the perfect reward for a brilliant career in the fast lane of one of the world’s most dangerous sports.

When he’s not racing boats he like all other forms of motor racing, as well as scuba diving and golf. He’s also a trained croupier, so he knows his way around the poker table. Sami Selio is a member of Team PokerStars SportsStars and plays under the screen name ‘Sami Selio’.
