Björn ‘Bjoerni89’ Schneider Biography

Björn Schneider is an online poker pro from Germany, who is also currently studying History and Philosophy in Göttingen. His route into poker came via weekend home games with friends, which quickly led him to the action online. A competitive nature and an urge to make money fast was all the inspiration Björn needed to put in the work needed to get good, and it wasn’t long before he began to turn a healthy profit.

After first focusing on ring games, Björn soon realized that his skills were best suited to Sit & Go tournaments. He started out playing 9-handed, before then moving on to 6-max. He’s since turned his attention to Heads-Up battles, and can be found playing at the highest-stakes tables online at PokerStars. He became well known on various poker forums for a challenge he laid out to Team PokerStars Pro and resident Heads-Up specialist Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom. The challenge was to play a series of $5,000 Heads-Up SNGs against one another.  He’s also dabbled in major Multi-table Tournaments (MTTs) and has clocked up some impressive results that include a 4th place finish in the Sunday Warm-Up for more than $50,000.

Constantly trying to improve, Björn says he’s always looking to fix leaks in his game, and now has his sights set of winning a major title. He’s also aiming to set a new record for most VIP Player Points (VPPs) earned in a year; an ambition that proves his dedication to the game. He’s yet to hit the major live tournament scene but is keen to play at more major events now that he’s representing poker’s elite team of online players.

He likes to relax by playing games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft when he isn’t playing poker, and also enjoys playing soccer, running and reading the works of the great philosophers.
