Denmark’s Mickey ‘mement_mori’ Petersen is one of the most successful online poker tournament players his country has ever produced. It’s a game he discovered when he played the Magic: The Gathering circuit, and one he started to master during the time he spent taking a year off from his studies, after which he planned to go to university. But in the end, Mickey began making so much money in the games online at PokerStars that he decided poker was now his true calling. It gave him the lifestyle he was looking for, especially when he started winning prize packages for live events around the world.

He’s had an impressive run of high-profile results that have seen him win hundreds of thousands of dollars. Most of his biggest results have been scored in Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) events, with highlights that include a runner-up finish in a $2,100 No Limit Hold’em event in 2010 for a huge cash of $169,286 (after a chop). Mickey has also cashed and made the money in several other SCOOP events, all of which have helped him become one of the highest earners in the history of the series, with more than $500,000 in winnings. He’s also won big in other PokerStars online events, including a 3rd place finish in the Sunday Warm-Up. His results are so good in fact that Mickey has topped several online Player of the Year and Leader Board rankings, which he uses as motivation to keep his status as one of the world’s best.

After already having proved himself to be a highly skilled online player, Mickey also then went on to make an impact on the live tournament scene in February 2012 when he won EPT Copenhagen on home soil, taking the title and prize money of $444,595.
