Theo Jorgensen - Theo J.

Denmark’s Theo Jorgensen studied Business at college in Copenhagen, and worked a series of different jobs before going on to find work in a casino. He got bored after a few years though, and decided that he’d rather receive the cards than deal them. He’d been playing poker since school, so the decision to turn full-time pro was an easy one, and with millions of dollars earned since, it’s a career move that has definitely paid off.

Theo has a long list of major title wins and cashes stretching back years, with his first major victory coming in a 7-Card Stud event at the Poker EM festival in 2004 for $125,248. His breakthrough stateside came when he made the final table of a Stud event at the 2007 World Series of Poker*, finishing 5th for a cash of $46,530. A few months later he played the first ever WSOPE* Main Event and finished 8th for another huge payday of $171,308. The following year he locked up his place in poker history on his return to the WSOPE*, taking down the £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event for $397,617 and his first bracelet. Other strong WSOP* results include a final table in a Pot Limit Omaha event in 2009, plus a top-30 finish in the 2010 Main Event worth $255,242. Theo also won his first World Poker Tour title in 2010, taking victory at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris tournament for $848,736 - the biggest cash of his career so far. He’s also come close to winning a European Poker Tour (EPT) title on two occasions, busting in 4th place at Deauville and Copenhagen in 2006 and 2007 respectively, for a combined total of $318,868.

When he isn’t playing the circuit, Theo likes listening to a wide selection of music, and competes in sports like soccer, tennis, squash and boxing. He says he’s proud to be a member of poker’s elite team, and is focussed on bringing more major titles home to Denmark in the future. He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘Theo J.’
