2-7 (Deuce to Seven) Triple Draw

2-7 Triple Draw is a game where the lowest hand wins the pot. The key difference between this and other draw games is that, as the name suggests, you get to make three draws.

Making a Hand

In 2-7 Triple Draw, straights and flushes count against your low hand and aces are always considered high. The way to determine who has the best hand at showdown is to start with a player's highest (and therefore worst) card and work backwards. For example, if a player has 9,8,6,3,2 and their opponent 9,8,6,4,2, the player with 9,8,6,3,2 wins.

The best 2-7 Triple Draw hand is 7, 5,4,3,2 with suits that don't make a flush. Although it rarely happens, if each player still in the hand at showdown has a pair, the lowest pair wins. Aces are always considered high, therefore A, 2,3,4,5 is not a straight. It's not a strong hand either, but may win if the other player makes a pair or a straight on the last draw.

Rules

Similar to other poker games, 2-7 Triple Draw uses blinds, posted by the two players directly to the left of the dealer (the small blind and the big blind). Each player is then dealt five cards, face down. The player to the left of the big blind can either fold, call, or raise. Action continues around the table, until all players have acted. In this first round, betting is in the smaller increment ($5 in a $5-$10 game, for example).

When the first round of betting is complete, it's time for the first draw, where each player can discard as many cards as they want, all five if they wish. To select which card you want to discard, click on it. Clicking the same card again will remove it from the 'discard set'. When you are satisfied with which cards you want to discard, click the 'Discard Cards' button. Players also have the option to 'Stand Pat'.

After each player has had a chance to draw, a second round of betting ensues. The first active player to the left of the dealer acts first, with the action continuing around the table.

The second draw then begins, after which a third round of betting commences. This betting round is in the larger, big bet increment ($10 in a $5-$10 game, for example). After this round, it's time for the third and final draw, and one more betting round, again using the big bet increment.

Showdown

At showdown, the player with the best hand wins the pot. If there are two players with the same winning five-card hand, the pot is split evenly between them.
