How Real Money poker works at PokerStars

We are an online poker room, not a casino. That means that you are not playing poker against the house, you are playing against other online poker players from around the world. PokerStars receives compensation by taking a ‘rake’, a small amount of money taken from each pot played. The amount of rake we take from each pot never exceeds $5, and we take a smaller rake on our low-limit cash tables. Visit our rake page for more information.

All money deposited by PokerStars players is held in segregated accounts, separate from revenue that we use for operational expenses. These segregated accounts are managed by a leading European bank, ensuring that PokerStars fulfills its monetary obligations to all our online poker players. This means you can rest assured that your funds are always secure with PokerStars.

Experiencing problems making a deposit? We can help you with our Deposit Assistance Department (DAD) feature. If your deposit is declined or refused, you’ll see a pop up box appear. Provide your phone number and a time when you are free, and we’ll call you to help complete your deposit. If the pop up box doesn’t appear, email dad@pokerstars.com, with ‘Phone Request’ in the subject line, and a time when we can call.

DAD is currently only available in English and Spanish.

How to set Deposit Limits

You can manage your own budget and the money you use to play poker with at PokerStars by setting deposit limits, for example by restricting the amount of money you can deposit in a week. Simply go to the Cashier window and select ‘Restrict Deposit Limit’.

Cashing Out

If you want to take money out of your PokerStars account, simply click the Cashier button in the lobby and select ‘Cash Out’. You can then select the amount and click ‘Submit’. Visit the Cashout Policy page to find out more.
