Frequently Asked Questions - Delivery
- What happens if nobody is available to accept the package upon delivery?
- DHL - will make 2 delivery attempts, but can come again upon your request. If DHL cannot deliver your parcel due to your area or your availability, they may request you collect the parcel from their nearest depot
- A note is left with: date & time of arrival, tracking number, the date the courier will return and phone number to contact DHL.
- If you sign, the package will be left at the second delivery in a safe area only.
- If you do not contact DHL, they will try to reach you to make delivery arrangements.
- Unclaimed Shipments are returned or held for 2 weeks until disposed of.
- It is very important for someone to be home at time of delivery to avoid unnecessary returns and delays.
Canada Post - Will make 1 attempt to deliver your package; after that it is sent to the closest Postal office.
A notice will be left at your door with the following information:
*Date & Time of delivery
*The closest postal location for pick-up
*The business hours the postal location is open
*The date the parcel/letter will be available for pick-up at the location
*A tracking number for reference
After 5 business days, a reminder notice is sent out. If the shipment has not been picked within 5 days, a final notice is sent out to inform you that the package will be returned.
Parcelforce - will make 2 or 3 delivery attempts, and will redeliver once you have contacted them. A card is left after each delivery attempt but they may leave the parcel with a neighbor or in a safe place if one is designated. Local delivery for Parcelforce may be referred to as "GLS" courier.
Option to pick up the parcel from the closest post office if preferred.
If not collected or delivered, and contact cannot be made with you, the parcel is returned to the VIP Store within 2-3 weeks.
Royal Mail - will make up to 2 delivery attempts before leaving a card and holding the parcel at the local post office. Either a redelivery or pickup can be made for the parcel, or it will be returned to the VIP store within 2 weeks.
