HAVE THEY MADE A DEAL, YET?

The only question more frequently asked at poker tournaments than "Who knocked Russ out?" is "Have they made a deal, yet?

Often we never find out. Tonight we did.

Another question that could be asked in this tournament-"Where are the Europeans?" They are usually dominant in this event.

When cantona, the only Euro left, took out Berkshire in 10th the Final Table was formed and few short stacks could breathe again.

FINAL TABLE: 30 min. levels 2,000/4,000 blinds

One of the many joys of internet tournament play is how many hands are played in an hour. It can take forever in split games to knock anyone out as they can often catch a miracle card of half the pot. But this group was averaging 60 hands an hour so the results came about three times as fast as at a B&M tourny.

For the first quarter hour, the starting chip leader cantona was busy giving most of his chips to jacksup when a baby-stack confrontation occurred that would help decide who was the first to leave.

KC_KID collected 36878.

Mrs. Mullet was left with only 7,106 on the double loss both high and low to the only stack shorter than hers.

Two hands later Mrs. Mullet left in 9th when EDOGN made trip 8's when two 8's flopped to the lady's K's and 8's. Not very gentlemanly.

A little later with the new blinds of 3,000/6,000 the starting chip leader cantona was next to LAST. And the primary benefactor, jacksup maintained his lead.

In the next 15 minutes jacksup went into full self-destruct mode. And as the blinds went up to 4k/8k, the very temporary chip leader went down and out in PokerStars land for 6th place.

Here is jacksup's last hand:

HipPocket: posts small blind 4000

Seat 4: HipPocket (86844 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenny (264356 in chips)

The nice thing about tournaments is that they DO end eventually, but with split games it can take awhile. HipPocket had been the shortest stack for some time and decided to do something about it.LEAVE in 5th.

Now there were three with fairly even chips. The rail wants to know if they are discussing a deal. No word yet.

Seat 1: cantona (288861 in chips)
Seat 3: EDOGN (303044 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenny (328095 in chips)

RIDEFAST [observer] said, "20 K EACH U R CRAZY"
EDOGN said, "noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

That's the word.

And you know what happens to players who turn down deals, don't you?
EDOGN 300,000 in chips just became dead money.

We went through almost the entire 30 minute 6k/12k blind structure with its typical ups and downs before the 'Curse of the Deal Rejecter' took effect. EDOGN had been chip leader for most of that time, but Lenny came back from the dead to take the lead with this hand:

Hand #132 1:39 into the Final Table

EDOGN: posts small blind 6000
Lenny: posts big blind 12000
cantona: folds
EDOGN: raises 24000 to 36000
Lenny: calls 24000

*** SHOW DOWN ***
EDOGN: shows [Jc 3c 9s Ad] (HI: a pair of Jacks)
Lenny: shows [Th 3h 2d 9c] (HI: a straight, Nine to King)

Four minutes later the curse ends EDOGN's day in 3rd. The rail is all over EDOGN for not chopping. Assuming the other two would have dealt, the E Dog walked on about 7 grand.

Hand #136 1:43 in.

Seat 1: cantona (361425 in chips)
Seat 3: EDOGN (36693 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenny (521882 in chips)

EDOGN: posts small blind 6000
Lenny: posts big blind 12000
EDOGN: raises 24000 to 36000
Lenny: calls 24000

Lenny: calls 693

*** SHOW DOWN ***
EDOGN: shows [5s Ad 6d 8s] (HI: a pair of Sevens)
Lenny: shows [Jc 9d 8h 3s] (HI: two pair, Sevens and Threes)

Heads up Lenny has a healthy lead and cantona wants some extra cash.
It's after 9 a.m. in Paris and cantona has been up all night playing in this tournament.

Seat 1: cantona (361425 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenny (558575 in chips)

Lenny said, "2nd place to both +%"
cantona said, "done"

SteveMorrow [observer] said, "ok, give me a couple minutes"

The deal was struck with cantona folding the rest of the way.

Have they made a deal, yet?

Yes, they did. Lenny got an extra $2,500 more than cantona.

Well, then who knocked Russ out?
