PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker 2004

The crowning of "Ragde" as the champion of the 2004 WCOOP in the early hours of August 9th, moved the third annual World Championship of Online Poker into the record books. Poker players logged-in from all over the globe to compete in this year's events. With 10,000 main event players, an additional 20,000 satellite players and $6 million in total payouts, the 2004 WCOOP became the largest online poker tournament ever held. The Championship No Limit Hold'em tournament generated a prize pool of $2.1 million!

The WCOOP was truly a 'world championship' with players from all 50 U.S. states and over 40 countries around the world. Players at the final table of the championship event represented six countries, including the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, United Kingdom, and Norway. Many of the top names in the poker world competed in the WCOOP, including five former World Series Champions, former WCOOP bracelet winners, and a number of World Poker Tour and World Series main event finalists.

The WCOOP has always been the most prestigious online poker tournament, but with the record-setting 2004 tournament it affirmed its position as one of the top poker tournaments in the world...online or off.
