WCP Stage III - Live Final at the PCA

World Cup of Poker VII - Live Final

A total of 56 teams will compete in the World Cup of Poker VII, but only the best will survive to reach Stage III - the Live Grand Final. They’ll all be invited in January 2011 to the Atlantis Hotel and Resort in The Bahamas - one of the world’s most exotic and luxurious locations, and home of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). The final teams will battle for national glory, the $100,000 first prize and the title of World Cup of Poker VII Champions!

WCP VII Winners $100,000 Freeroll

And don’t forget, if you played in the Stage I $1 and 1 FPP qualifiers for the eventual winning team, you’ll be invited to play an exclusive $100,000 Freeroll. So, even if you didn’t make it onto your national team, you can still cheer them on. If they go on to win the title at the Live Final, you’ll get to play the Freeroll on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at a start time tailored to the winning country.

There will be two days of preliminary action to decide the Final Table order. All players from each team will play three rounds of preliminary events. First, team members will play 9-handed full table shootouts with one player from each country on each table. Second, players will get to test their shorthanded skills at 6-Max tables. All tables will be drawn randomly, with no country having more than one participant per table. The third and final preliminary event for Day 1 will be 4-Max, making for an even tougher challenge. There will be nine tables of four players each, again with no country having more than one participant per table. There will be no Captains in these tournaments either, so it’s online qualifier against online qualifier vying for the coveted first place bye to the WCP Final Table!

Team members will be awarded the following points based on where they finish in their tournament:

Place Points
1st 10
2nd 8
3rd 7
4th 6
5th 5
6th 4
7th 3
8th 2
9th 1

At the end of Day 1, players will be invited to a special Pokerstars World Cup of Poker drinks reception, where the line-ups will be announced. This is where the teams can start to decide on their strategy. On Day 2 it’s one-on-one for your place at the Final Table. The remaining eight teams will be seeded 2-9, with Team 2 playing Team 9, Team 3 playing Team 8 and so on. The higher seeded team picks the Match-Ups, the lower-seeded team picks the order of play. All five members of each team will have one Heads-Up match against their enemy counterpart.

While the first place team enjoys a day at the beach, Teams 2-9 will be locking horns for the final Country Showdown. With 60 points going to the winner and 30 points to the losers, every country will see their fate determined in the Heads-Up battles. Then it’s time for the Final Table and the chance to win big!

Final Table

The starting chip stacks for each team will be divided equally between the five team members. Each team will submit a team sheet, detailing the order in which each player will appear. Team members will then play for one orbit at the Final Table, with a new team member being substituted in at the start of every new orbit. Each new player to the table will then add their share of the chips to whatever stack exists from the player before them. Should a player bust out during an orbit, the next member of their team will come to the table to play on with their own share of the team’s starting chip stack.

After all team members have played an orbit, each team can substitute any new player they wish, but no more than one substitution can be made per orbit. Once a player busts out, they’re gone for good.
