How to qualify - GERMANY

World Cup of Poker VI - Qualify

There are two qualification routes open to players from Germany. You can qualify for either:

Your State Team
Team Germany: 1 or Team Germany: 2

Players can attempt to qualify for any or all of these teams. However, as soon as you qualify for one team, you will not be able to attempt to qualify for any other team.

STAGE IA

Every State will have a team of four players representing them, as determined by Stage IA of qualifying. Two places on the team are automatically awarded to that states top two Tournament Leader Board (TLB) players(see list of states below), and the other two spots go to the top two players determined by our State Team Decider freerolls.

Tournament Leader Board qualifiers

Each of the 16 state teams will be made up of four players. Two places will be automatically awarded to the top two Tournament Leader Board (TLB) players from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 in each of the 16 states.

Select your home state from the following list to see the top TLB players;

Each player who qualifies for one of these coveted spots will receive an e-mail from wcp@pokerstars.com. Players must reply to this e-mail and let PokerStars know whether they wish to play for their country. If a TLB qualifier is unable to play, the next highest TLB player will be offered the spot.

State Team Decider Freerolls

The final two spaces on each state team will be determined by two State Team Decider freeroll tournaments exclusively open only to players from your state: ‘State Team Decider - A’ and ‘State Team Decider - B’. If you win either tournament, you will be awarded a place on your state team.

Please Note: If you win ‘State Team Decider - A’, you will not be allowed to play in the ‘State Team Decider - B’ tournament, as you will have already secured a place on your state team.

To register for either ‘State Team Decider’ qualifier, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Events’, ‘World Cup’ and ‘Germany Qualifiers’. Locate your home state tournaments and click ‘Register’.

STAGE IB

STATE PLAY-OFFS

Once the 16 teams have been finalized, they then advance to Stage IB where they will be divided in to four groups for the State Play-offs. Here, each state Team will compete in a series of Team Play-off tournaments. These Team Play-off tournaments will produce a single winning team from each group.

The champions from all four State Play-offs will then advance to Stage II - the State Play-offs. There they will face off against Team Germany: 1 and Team Germany: 2 to try and secure a place in Stage III - the Live Grand Final.

STAGE I

TEAM GERMANY: 1 AND TEAM GERMANY: 2 QUALIFICATION

If you do not qualify for your state team, you can still qualify for one of the two national German Teams. As with all World Cup teams, Team Germany: 1 and Team Germany: 2 will both consist of four players – two TLB players and two Team Germany Decider freeroll qualifiers.

Tournament Leader Board qualifiers

The top four TLB players in Germany from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 will all automatically be awarded a spot on one of the Germany teams.

‘Team Germany Decider’ Freeroll Qualifiers

The final two spaces on each team will be determined by two Team Germany Decider freeroll tournaments: ‘Team Germany Decider - A’ and ‘Team Germany Decider - B’. The top two players from each freeroll tournament will be awarded a space on either Team Germany: 1 or Team Germany: 2.

To register for a Team Germany Decider tournament, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Events’, ‘World Cup’ and ‘DE Qualifiers’.

STAGE II

REGIONAL PLAY-OFFS

The four State Play-off champions will join Team Germany: 1 and Team Germany: 2 in Stage II of qualifying - the Regional Play-offs. Here, the four-player teams will battle it out in a series of Team Play-off tournaments. The overall winning team from the Germany Regional Play-off group will then advance to Stage III – an invite to play at the live Grand Final for a share of the $290,000 prize pool.

STAGE III

The winning team from each of the Regional Play-offs in Stage II will win prize packages that include travel expenses and accommodation - to play live in the World Cup of Poker Grand Final in The Bahamas. There, the teams will compete in a televised tournament to determine the World Cup of Poker VI Champions!
