World Cup of Poker 2008 Terms

World Cup of Poker V - Terms

  1. You may qualify for the PokerStars World Cup of Poker (WCP) by:

    • Being one of the top two Tournament Leader Board (TLB) players for your country. Note: You will receive an e-mail from WCP@pokerstars.com if you qualify as one of the top two TLB players from your country. You must respond to this e-mail if you wish to play for your team.
    • Winning a qualifying tournament.
    • Being selected by PokerStars.com.
  2. Any player who attempts to register for qualifiers for more than one country, state, or province team will be disqualified from World Cup play. PokerStars may require proof of residence from any player at any time during the World Cup of Poker.
  3. Any player already qualified for a regional team that qualifies for its Division, will not be eligible to qualify for the national team.
  4. All tournaments associated with the PokerStars World Cup of Poker (the "Event") will be No Limit Hold'em.
  5. Entrants must be 18 or older, or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction. All players may be required to produce proof of age and residence (passport or other valid picture ID).
  6. By participating in a qualifier of any kind on PokerStars, or in the Event, you grant PokerStars the right to use your name and likeness for promotional purposes without further compensation.
  7. During the Event, strict rules regarding player behavior will be enforced. These may include penalties, up to and including disqualification, for foul language, abuse of dealers, players or any other person during the Event, or any other behavior that PokerStars, in its sole judgment, believes to be detrimental to its conduct of the Event.
  8. All members of a WCP team agree to share their name, phone number, email address and instant messenger details with the captain of the team. This is to allow the captain to ensure that players arrive for their matches.

Players and captains understand that any email addresses they are given pursuant to the World Cup are to be treated as private and confidential. Violation of this may result in penalties ranging up to disqualification from the WCP. Teams are encouraged to arrange other methods of communication among each other (phone, IM, etc).
  9. Forfeiture
Any player who does not show up for his designated match will be blinded out of the match. Any player who cannot make his match must inform their team captain immediately so alternate arrangements can be made.

Alternates should be present at every match their team plays. If within one hour before the start of a match, the primary player hasn’t logged in and can’t be reached, the team captain and/or PokerStars staff may choose to replace that player with any available alternate.
  10. Alternates
Each team has two alternate players (a player within your country who is not already on a designated team). This alternate is permitted to replace any teammate who cannot make a designated match, providing the captain notifies the PokerStars Poker Management at least an hour before the match. Alternates are the next highest finishing player in the teams’ qualifying tournaments.

If a player or even an entire team is unable to travel to the live Final in The Bahamas for any reason, such as passport or visa(s) issues, then PokerStars reserves the right to replace that team member or the entire team, at our sole discretion and without compensation to the player(s).
  11. Scheduling
Each captain must inform wcp@pokerstars.com when he plans to use a replacement player. This must be done at least one hour prior to the start of the event. The captain must notify wcp@pokerstars.com of the match, the player unable to attend, and the details of the alternate who will play.

If a player misses a match for any reason, he may be permanently replaced at the joint decision of the captain and PokerStars. The decision of PokerStars management will be final.
  12. All qualifying tournaments will be limited to a maximum of 15,000 players, on a first-come first-served basis.
  13. One account per player. Any player using multiple accounts during qualifying tournaments will be disqualified.

In case of any disputes regarding any terms or conditions of the PokerStars World Cup of Poker, the decision of PokerStars management is final.
