World Series 2004

*WSOP and World Series of Poker (from now on referred to as the Main Event and/or World Series)

Tuesday, September 14, 2004 - PokerStars along with Cigar Aficionado magazine hosted a press conference/ESPN *WSOP final episode viewing party. This event complete with poker celebrities and a $1,000 freeroll tournament took place inside the Grand Ballroom of the Muse Hotel in New York City. PokerStars was proudly represented by Director of Communications, Nolan Dalla; Poker Room Manager, Lee Jones; 2003 Main Event Champion, Chris MoneyMaker; and 2004 Champion, Greg Raymer.

The event included opening remarks by Nolan Dalla followed by a presentation from Lee Jones, a short speech by Chris Moneymaker and finally a formal introduction by Marvin Shanken (Publisher of Cigar Aficionado) and keynote address by Greg Raymer.

Greg Raymer then spent some time fielding questions from the audience before Marvin Shanken unveiled the October 2004 issue of Cigar Aficionado, which prominently featured Greg on the cover.

Following the press conference, the standing room only ESPN viewing party got underway. This marked the first time the final episode of ESPN's *World Series of Poker had been seen outside of the studios. During the broadcast Raymer shared his experiences and took additional questions from the audience mostly regarding key hands and memories from his World Series Championship.

The final episode concluded, and it was time for some poker. With a cash prize and pride on the line, players were clearly playing to win. Greg Raymer played a great game but was ultimately eliminated by fellow Poker Champion, Chris Moneymaker. Competition was intense, but once the four table field was cleared the winner walked away with a $1,000 cash prize.
