*WSOP and World Series of Poker (from now on referred to as the Main Event and/or World Series)

World Series of Poker - Preliminary Events FAQ
  • What are World Series Preliminary Events?
  • World Series Preliminary events are all events held prior to the final $10,000 buy- in no-limit hold'em Main Event at the World Series. Please note that we are offering the opportunity to use W$ to buy into specific events (see list below).
  • How old do I have to be to play in these events?
  • The minimum age to play in the World Series is 21. Therefore, you must be 21 by the first day of any World Series event in which you're playing.
  • Do I have to sign a television waiver to play in the World Series?
  • A television waiver will likely be required for the World Series. If you choose not to sign a World Series waiver, you will be disqualified from the event and your buy-in will NOT be refunded. PokerStars assumes no responsibility for entries forfeited in this way.
  • If I win, will PokerStars disclose my player ID?
  • We reserve the right to disclose your player ID. If we do so, we will give you the option to change your player ID after the tournament.
  • What are W$ and how do I get them?
  • You get W$ when you win an entry to a special event such as a World Series qualifier, and unregister from it (if you're permitted to do so). See complete information on W$.
  • Can I use my W$ to buy into the championship event?
  • No. We are allowing players to use W$ to buy into the preliminary events because we don't have satellites to them. This is the only way we can put players into those events.
  • Do I have to wear PokerStars logo gear if I participate in this?
  • Yes. We hope you'll be proud to be a member of Team PokerStars Pro, and will wear our logo gear with pride.

  • If I want to use $W to buy into a preliminary event, how do I let you know?
  • Simply email wsop@pokerstars.com with the event you would like to enter. Make sure you have enough W$ in your account prior to emailing us and we'll take care of the rest. We will remove the funds from your account and will then email you with a link to our online registration software. Once the registration software is complete you'll simply need to check in at our registration desk in Las Vegas to receive your entry.
  • What if I have more questions about preliminary events at the World Series?
  • Send us an email at wsop@pokerstars.com with any additional questions. We're happy to answer them.
