World Series of Poker* Final Table - Darus Suharto

Darus Suharto
Originally from Indonesia, Darus Suharto works as an accountant in Toronto, Canada. He’s been playing poker online for three years, and qualified for the World Series of Poker* Main Event via a PokerStars satellite tournament. In addition to several victories online, Darus cashed for $26,389 when he finished in the top 500 at the Main Event in 2006. The money was hardly life-changing, but it proved that Darus has what it takes to hold his own against huge fields, and the stamina to keep his concentration over many days of action. This year he’s performed even better, outlasting over 6,800 other players to make the final nine. And with prize money of at least $900,670 already guaranteed, he’ll be making a far bigger amount of cash this time around.
When he isn’t playing poker, Darus is a huge sports fan and loves watching baseball, hockey, basketball and more. He also likes reading, watching movies, playing chess and travelling. He says that winning first place prize money of $9,119,517 wouldn’t change him. He even claims he’d still carry on working as an accountant - although he admits he would use some of the cash to buy a new apartment in Vancouver, while saving the rest of the money in the bank. Darus goes into Final Table play sixth in chips, with a stack of 12,520,000. This leaves him as one of the shorter stacks, but with more than enough chips to still make a play for the title.
