Vamplew at the double, wins UKIPT Champion of Champions

ukiptthumb.JPGDavid 'Vampy' Vamplew, the PokerStars EPT London winner, has completed a quickfire double by taking down the UKIPT Champion of Champions event.

Vamplew, who won the EPT London/UKIPT Main Event on Monday for £900,000, yesterday beat the eight other PokerStars UKIPT winners from Season 1 to earn a seat at every stop of Season 2, including the Grand Final at EPT London in 2011.

The 23-year-old Scot overcame UKIPT champions Padraig Parkinson (Galway), Joeri Zandvliet (Manchester), Gilles Augustus (Coventry), Andy Couldridge (Nottingham), Femi Fakinle (Killarney), Jamie Burland (Brighton), Nick Abou Risk (Edinburgh) and Max Silver (Dublin) having earned his seat to the winner-takes-all tournament by winning EPT London.

How did it feel to have won two tournaments in as many days? "It's pretty good; after yesterday, it's the icing on the cake," Vamplew said. Heads-up opponent Jamie Burland congratulated his opponent: "I hoped David would get tired after yesterday (the EPT London final table when he got heads-up with John Juanda) but... he played really good."

Season 2 of the UKIPT gets under way in Galway on 2-5 December, 2010, with a €1,000 + 100 Main Event at the Radisson Hotel, followed by a return to Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn poker room in February for the first UK stop. See here for the full schedule.
