Door's open. Come on in and get comfortable.

Kick off your shoes, and grab something cold to drink as you pass the fridge.

We'll wait while you put on your comfortable jeans and that favorite old shirt--no one here is going to notice that little coffee stain on the front. Comfortable now? Good. I have a lot to show you!

Now for the Introductions

The folks here at PokerStars are very excited to welcome you to the site and have asked me to show you around. And before I forget my manners completely, I should tell you that I'm Rebekah Mercer, senior staff writer and editor for the PokerStarswomen.com Blog & News site. They asked me to give you a little background, and then get the show on the road, so here goes!

PokerStars Women is the first "women's only" community offered by a major online poker site, and as the world's largest poker site, we plan to do it with style. PokerStars has brought together a team that can provide everything you've been looking for in poker altogether in one place. We have chosen some of the best writers in poker and related fields to bring you content that is educational, entertaining, thought-provoking, and most importantly, offers you the best tournaments and prizes to be found anywhere.

When I first started playing poker online a few years ago, I scoured the Internet to find something like PokerStarswomen.com, but at that time, there was nothing close. I wanted to find a real money site where I could play for small stakes and chat with other players who were new to the game, like me. I wanted a site that had a forum for women to discuss their unique perspectives on the game and the challenges and rewards of being a female in a mostly male endeavor. I wanted to find a way to challenge myself and my learning curve by playing against other players to win big prizes, but with a small buy-in. In other words, I wanted it all, and had come close to giving up on ever finding it.

Then I started hearing about the ideas for PokerStars Women about a year ago, and the more I heard, the more I was convinced that it was going to be everything I had been looking for. And I knew there were many more women like me who wanted the same thing. Now that it's here, I can't wait to introduce you to everyone, so let's get started.

First, I would like to introduce the writers who will be bringing you their unique perspectives on the female poker experience. We have strategy tips, news and information in the women's poker arena, updates on the PokerStars Women's Poker League, body/mind conditioning tips to keep you in the zone--both mentally and physically, and profiles of some of the famous and some not-so-famous female personalities in the poker world.

Sue Carswell--Sue is a reporter/researcher for Vanity Fair and the author of Paying for Glory and Faded Pictures from My Backyard. She will be providing interviews with some of the PokerStars female pros, sports stars, guest celebs, and friends of PokerStars every month.

Beth Gains--Beth is an actress and author who provides lifestyle seminars for poker players. Her Eat, Play, Love columns will provide a monthly dose of healthy lifestyle tips and mind/body conditioning techniques to help keep everyone in top form--both mentally and physically.

Jennifer Shahade--Jennifer is a two-time American Women's Chess Champion and author of the book, Chess Bitch: Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport. In addition she is a serious poker player and will be contributing her insights on strategy as well as a monthly wrap-up of events in the women's poker world.

Amy Zupko--Amy is the co-host of Women's Poker Hour and is a staff writer for Woman Poker Player magazine. She will provide monthly updates on the PokerStarsWomen's League events.

Rebekah Mercer--I will be providing updates and announcements regarding PokerStars events and I will also feature a PokerStars pro, female online player, or league player every week, to get you acquainted with the people you will be playing with, learning from, and competing against.

Find it where?

Moving on to the site itself, I want to give you a brief overview of what's what, and where to find things. The header for each section will give you more details, but since I'm showing you around, I think I have to at least point out a few things, and brag a little while I'm at it.

Promotion, Tours, and Events--This is where you will find information on the exclusive events for women, the league tournaments and details, and what's new at PokerStarswomen.com.

Team PokerStars Pro--This section provides profiles of all the female PokerStars Team Pro members and our Team Online members as well. You will be seeing some of them at the tables, so it's best to know a bit about them, if you can.

PokerStars.TV--This is one of my favorite parts of the site, and I can easily sink a few hours here watching video clips of some PokerStars female pros and satellite players, tournaments, interviews, and even some sightseeing details about the locations for upcoming tournaments.

There's plenty to watch with Vanessa Rousso

Poker School--This is a great online training site with some of the best information available on the internet, and it's all free.

VIP Club--PokerStars has the most innovative and stylish VIP site in poker, and the fashion and accessories section for women is definitely worth checking out. As you accumulate FPPs (Frequent Player Points) you will be able to trade them in for your favorite items.

Social Media--Keep up with PokerStars Women by activating your Twitter account to receive daily updates from us. You can also follow us on Facebook.

So that wraps up the mini tour and the introduction to our new site. I can't wait to get to know many of you in the months to come and to hear about your successes on PokerStars. Please keep in touch. And if you see me at events, say "hello." I'm kind of hard to miss so you shouldn't have any trouble finding me. I'm six feet tall in my stocking feet, and if that's not enough to make me stand out in the crowd, I'm usually wearing a cowboy hat. The PokerStars tee shirt or jacket is also a dead giveaway. So say "hello" if you get a chance. I would love to hear your stories, all except the bad beats!

We are very happy to have you as a member of a groundbreaking site and a groundbreaking concept in poker. We look forward to lending a hand to make women the force in poker that we know they can and will be.
