Barcelona, the most entertaining city in the world
When I was 14 years old, I came to Barcelona with my school for our end-of-year trip. I was completely in love with a sweet girl, and spent the whole week before the trip wondering how to get her to fall for me. After lots of missed opportunities, we went to Port Aventura, which is the best theme park in Spain and the second in Europe after Eurodisney in Paris. We took a ride in a water ride together, and when she got all her clothes wet, and was obviously cold, I decided to let her use my dry jersey! That was the time when she at last fell for me and we kissed. After that trip, I realised that Barcelona will be forever a special city for me.
Some 13 years later, I am visiting Barcelona almost every year to play poker and have some fun with the awesome nightlife. I'm soon going back as August 27 sees the start of PokerStars EPT Barcelona.
Barcelona is one of the best places to hold an EPT for several reasons. First, there's the nice beach to enjoy during the summer with fantastic weather. Secondly, nightlife is amazing with plenty of people from so many different countries and cultures. Also, for the lovers of the gastronomy, this is definitely the right city to come to.
For those who like "tapas", I strongly recommend you go to "barrio de Gracia" where you will find the highest quality food. They will recommend to you what to order because all their food is fresh. Depending on the day, you will find fish or meat better than anywhere. You cannot leave Barcelona without trying "pan tumaca" with "ham"; you will really love it!
For those who would rather go to a nice restaurant, be seated and relax while enjoying a nice meal, I'd say the right place is a restaurant called "botafumeiro" where any seafood will be the best you ever try - I'm 99% sure.
If you guys have a couple of days to do some tourism, I am going to make your choices easier because you will need over a week to see the whole of Barcelona.
Besides "las ramblas", "Sagrada Familia" and Port Aventura that you all likely know already, I have to say that the gothic street is one of the most regional places here in Barcelona. Montjuic is a very nice park to have a long walk with the right company. That place is so lovely. And also "The Tibidabo" is an amazing park where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset while drinking a fresh beer... sounds like a good plan, huh?
For those who like architecture, you really need to go and see all the "Gaudi" places. I can tell you that I have no clue about architecture, but seeing all those buildings made me feel like I want to quit poker and be a good architect!
Basically, no matter if you are a poker player, staff, media or just a tourist, there is no doubt that BARCELONA is one of the most interesting cities of the world. I'll be there from August 25th, so if you need something from me I'll be more than happy trying to be your guide.
