Have fun and raise money for Barnardo's at UKIPT Cork
PokerStars is proud to announce a special charity event at UKIPT Cork in aid of Barnardo's, the children's charity. The buy-in will be affordable, with an entry fee donation made by each player and matched by PokerStars. To make the event more fun it will feature celebrity poker bounties with money on their heads.
The money will be used to sponsor Katharine Leat, sister of UKIPT host Nick Wealthall, who is running the London marathon for Barnardo's. They ran it together two years ago, but this time Nick has predictably wimped out and is instead helping to organise the poker event.
We asked him to explain himself, and he said: "Once was enough. Running the marathon is an amazing thing to do but it's ridiculously hard and I'm more of an indoors kind of guy. Kath is 100 times tougher than me so she gets to do it and I try and assuage my guilt by making lots of people play poker; it's a good combination of our natural skills. The UKIPT charity events are always a lot of fun but I'm determined to make this the best craic of them all - and all for an amazing charity."
Barnardo's does great work for children and young people, helping over 350,000 of the most vulnerable in the charity's first 100 years.
The event will be held on final table day, Sunday May 22, with an entry fee of €100 + €10 + €20, with the €20 going to the charity. PokerStars will match each of the €20 donations and put up five €150 bounties. We'd love to see you there; don't miss this unique opportunity to donate to a great cause, play some fun poker and tell Nick to his face just how lazy he is!
