Main Event Passport: cal42688 won't stop winning
Okay, I've not been authorized to speak on behalf of PokerStars players, but I'm going to take it upon myself--for the good of the poker economy--to make an emergency appeal. This is an open letter to one particular PokerStars player. You might recognize his screen name.
Please stop winning everything.
It's impressive beyond measure, and I bow to your greatness. But think of the others. For once, think of all of these people who don't have two SCOOP watches, a WCOOP bracelet, and a Super Tuesday win. Think how they must feel to wake up every morning and not feel like a person who can win whatever he wants. It's demoralizing in a way that only the severely depressed can understand.
We as a poker community accepted your ability to run roughshod over whatever poker tournament you liked. We sang your praises and named a couple of our kids after you. I commissioned a sculpture of you to sit in the city square. And when you won your first Main Event Passport, we all said, "Good on him. Perhaps a live event will keep him from spending so much time winning everything else."
But now it's gotten a little silly.
While you've tried to keep it under the radar, it's not escaped my attention that you have won four Main Event passports since I announced them eight days ago.
FOUR of them.
Here's the thing. I know you have five possible tours and series from which to choose when using your Main Event Passports. In case you've forgotten, you can use those $13,000 packages for any of the following:
But you know that already. You know you can get your buy-ins, hotels, spending cash and all that taken care of. You can go literally anywhere on the PokerStars circuit. And now you can do it FOUR TIMES.
It's just sort of unseemly. You're getting a bit like that guy at the all-you-can-eat crab legs buffet who sits as close as possible to the steam tray and pokes at people with the stainless steel tongs.
I beseech you, cal42688, please leave some for everybody else. Players only have another month to win the Main Event Passports. They can do it through cash satellites, FPP qualifiers, or Steps tournaments. They can do it for as little as $2. All they have to do is click "Events" and "Passport" and they can win one for themselves.
But only if you stop wining them all for yourself.
It's time to take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Do I want to be the crab legs guy or do I want to share the wealth?"
Think hard. Search deep, my friend. You'll find the answer.
