PokerStars set to deal 70 billionth hand

ps_news_thn.jpgIf you have been on a roller coaster, you know the sound of the ascent. It's a anxious, plodding click, click, click-click-click that portends the moments just before a gut-shaking drop from the top of the ride. That sound you hear in the back of your head right now is just such a warning. This Road to 100 Billion thing at PokerStars is about to go off in a big way.

Sometime in the next ten days, PokerStars will deal its 70 billionth hand. By now, like any experienced thrill rider, you know that the dealing of such a milestone can mean big money for you. This time it's $750,000 in cash for people who hit one of 300 milestone hands at the big 70 billionth. The winner of that hand--the player lucky enough to be sitting in the front car of the coaster--will win a minimum of $70,000.

If this is your first trip on the Road to 100 Billion, you might need a little primer on how this all works. For the first 300 regular milestone hands, everybody at the table who is dealt into the hand gets $50, plus another $50 for every VIP Player Point they earned in the previous 50 hands. It works very much the same way for the 70 billionth hand, but it's much bigger. The winner of the hand will have his or her prize doubled and will receive an additional prize of $70,000.

Back in July, New Zealand's "yllams" banked $68,420 at a $0.10/$0.25 six-max table when he hit the 65 billionth hand. That month, PokerStars gave more than $770,000 to more than 1,600 players during the days leading up to the big hand.
