PokerStars Sunday majors results (7-24-11)
In New Zealand it was snowing. North of the equator, summer burned on with a ferocity usually reserved for damnation or smelting. On PokerStars, the temperature remained a constant, perfect degree, a place where Fahrenheit and Celsius don't matter. The only metrics anyone cares to see are the size of the chip stacks and the payout tables. They still don't get any bigger than PokerStars.
It was a busy weekend on PokerStars, thanks in no small part to the PokerStars 65 Billionth hand celebration. A young man from New Zealand won the big hand for more than $68,000 in extra prize money.
Just about the time that was happening, the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up saw nearly 3,300 people sign up for a first prize worth $103,463 to Austria's specht1988.
Just a few hours later, with the temperature still the same, the Sunday Million went off with 6,383 players. When it was over, a three-way deal saw the top two finishers earn $153,000 apiece.
