British Poker Awards honors Negreanu, Cody, Stone
It is awards season all over the world. From Hollywood to the UK, presenters are grabbing their envelopes. Just last night in London, the British Poker Awards chose three big names from PokerStars and the EPT to honor this year.
When it came time to pick the Best International Player, he was too far away to collect it for himself, so Daniel Negreanu's proxy, Liv Boeree, picked it up for him just as she did last year. She told him she was keeping it.
While Boeree may be holding on to that award for her own mantel. If she does, it will save space in Negreanu's trophy case for Best Poker Ambassador, an honor for which he is nominated this week at the American Poker Awards.
Meanwhile, fellow Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody picked up the British Poker Award for Best Blogger.
"This was a big surprise and I'm really happy to have won," Cody said. "What makes it even better is that it was a reader's choice award. To be recognized by the poker fans is amazing."
The winner of Best Tournament Director was no surprise. the EPT and UKIPT's Toby Stone had already won the award twice before.
"I'm absolutely thrilled and humbled to win this again, but I must pay credit to my hard-working floor and dealer team who, without which, none of these events would be possible," Stone said. "They're among the best in the world and make my job infinitely easier."
Congratulations to Negreanu, Cody, and Stone. Well deserved, gentlemen.
