Sunday Warm-Up: 0kshark feeds on final table, wins $59K after four-way chop
Coming close to a Major victory and not finishing it off may deter some players from trying again so soon. Not the champion of the $400,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up. Just two weeks ago 0kshark was heads-up against gringenkov for the Sunday Million title but came up short. This week 0kshark would chop up the remaining prize pool with aeghi, Scrafy, and blackaces93 before taking the title and $59,917.78.
Read below for 0kshark's ride to the win.
Just before the final 18 took the stage fred_volpe out of Brazil was trying to notch together yet another Major final table run with a runner-up finish in the Super Tuesday, eighth place in the Sunday Million, and seventh in SCOOP 2014 Event #37-L. But, the cards had other ideas leaving fred_volpe out of the running in 19th place ($1,451.52).
With two tables left two-time -COOP champ (SCOOP 2012 and TCOOP 2014) Simon 'ministerborg' Ravnsbaek was fresh off doubling up and trying to knock out Scrafy holding pocket jack against Scrafy's ace-queen. A pair of ladies on the turn and river left Ravnsbaek with just over two BBs. Ravnsbaek's remaining chips would slide over to moraene on the next end ending the night in 18th place ($1,723.68).
Just 20 minutes later the money hungry crowd would reach hand-for-hand play as former Warm-Up champ heytie would be all-in against SCOOP champ Robertino "Maestro Shao" Greco who made the final table here https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/2015/sunday-warm-up-nec-arg-claims-60k-and-we-156721.shtml just last month (6th place, $14,105.00). Heytie would utilize a higher kicker to stay alive and rake in a key three million chip pot with blinds at 40K/80K ante 8K.
A few minutes after the ninth hourly break sadam83 would apply pressure from the small blind shoving for 2.5 million as mayanfactor called all-in from the big blind holding A♥5♦. Sadam83's 9♥Q♦ would quickly find a queen on the Q♠ 9♣ 6♥ K♦ 2♣ flop thus starting up the final table below:
Seat 1: sadam83 (3630672 in chips)
Seat 2: 0kshark (3936737 in chips)
Seat 3: heytie (2215684 in chips)
Seat 4: flavioreis88 (2887431 in chips)
Seat 5: Scrafy (2069648 in chips)
Seat 6: Robertino "Maestro Shao" Greco (2365935 in chips)
Seat 7: blackaces93 (1767638 in chips)
Seat 8: aeghi (2942261 in chips)
Seat 9: Ivan "vandir4rek" Soshnikov (863994 in chips)
Heytie's attempt for a second Sunday Warm-Up ended before the first change in blinds. With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K heytie would min-raise from the button as flavioreis88 three-bet to 622K. Not giving this one up, heytie shoved for 1.9 million holding 6♣A♥. Flavioreis88 was happy to call with Q♠A♦ as the kicker problems proved to be too much 3♥ 8♦ K♦ Q♦ 3♣ for heytie finishing in ninth place ($4,082.40).
If the name Ivan "vandir4rek" Soshnikov sounds familiar it is likely because he took home over million dollars after winning the SCOOP 2014 Main Event-High. Don't follow online poker much? Well, Soshnikov also took down the EPT 10 Prague High Roller for €382,050. In this final table run, Ivan unfortunately would not walk away with the hardware after running pocket eights into Scrafy's aces, earning $6,577.20 in eighth place.
On the next hand with the blinds moving up to 65K/130K ante 13K flavioreis88 led for a min-raise as sadam83 shoved 2.2 million from the small blind. 0kshark held a better than ok A♠K♥ and called the all-in as flavioreis88 folded. Pocket eights did not help Ivan and they would not assist sadam83 8♠8♥ as big slick on an ace on the flop J♠ 7♣ A♦ 9♣ 2♠. Sadam83 would take $11,113.20 in seventh place.
The carnage did not stop there as four hands later only five remained. Robertino "Maestro Shao" Greco would open shove 1.2 million from the button as aeghi made the call from the big blind holding 3♣A♥. Greco's 7♥9♥ needed a little bump from the Q♦ T♦ 5♣ 4♣ A♣ board and did not receive it. Unfortunately, that would end Robertino's Sunday Warm-Up run once again in sixth place ($15,649.20).
15 minutes later with the blinds moving up to 80K/160K ante 16K flavioreis88's stack was staggered by doubling up 0kshark holding just 1.2 million. Those chips went into the middle preflop as blackaces93 made the call from the big blind holding pocket nines 9♣9♦. Flavioreis88's A♠5♣ would not catch up on the Q♦ 6♠ K♣ 8♣ 8♥ board claiming $20,412.00 in fifth place.
It would take a few hands before our players checked their "let's make a deal" buttons. But, after a little back-and-forth between chip chop and ICM, they were able to lock up the deal below leaving $8K on the table for the weekly champ:
After the deal the stack sizes started to flatten out a bit as Scrafy caught up to 0kshark with aeghi holding on to the temporary chip lead. With the blinds up to 100K/200K ante 20K 0kshark raised to 489K from the button as Scrafy shoved 4.3 million from the small blind. 0kshark covered by just 280K and made the call with T♦A♥. Good news for Scrafy is hitting two pair T♠8♠ on the 8♦T♣A♠ flop. Bad news is so did 0kshark, as the higher two pair held on the 3♠ and J♥ river to earn $42,658.61 in fourth place.
0kshark's ascent continued 15 minutes later as the blinds moved up to 125K/250K ante 25K aeghi would min-raise from the button as 0kshark three-bet from the small blind to 1.25 million. Aeghi made the call to see the well connected 8♥9♥7♥ flop. 0kshark stayed on the gas with a 1.25 million chip bet as aeghi raised all-in for 4.6 million. A set of sevens 7♦7♣ for 0kshark was enough to call as aeghi needed some help with a pair 9♠Q♣. Possible chop after the fourth heart 5♥ but the black river T♠ ended aeghi's tournament in third place ($51,946.24).
These last few weeks have been kind to 0kshark's bankroll. Two weeks ago taking second in the Sunday Million for $126K and now heads-up with a 18.1 million to 4.5 million chip lead in the Warm-Up.
This time 0kshark would claim that Major title after the third hand of heads-up play.
After taking down the blinds in the first two hands 0kshark would min-raise again but this time blackaces93 shoved for 3.99 million holding J♣A♠. If it's your day, you're holding aces of course, and rightfully so 0kshark called with aces A♦A♥ safely getting through the 3♦ 2♣ 8♠ J♠ 8♣ board to win this week's Sunday Warm-Up title and $59,917.78!
