Monster Pot Report: Big bounce for LucKeeBalls
Activity at the very highest stakes was thin on the ground this week, but the action at the next tier was sufficiently juicy to produce some truly monstrous pots - including our biggest ever hand in terms of big blinds!
First off though, the biggest pot of the week in absolute terms went to 'LucKeeBalls' who dragged in 1.98B chips playing the NLHE 1M/2M games. Taking on 'viziato1991' in a heads-up clash, our hero flopped an ace while holding A♠9♦. The board ran out 3♠A♣3♦T♠3♥ to improve his hand to a full house, leading him to move all-in on the river. The Italian was holding 9♣9♥ for a lesser full house and made the crying call.
Never to be left out, 'viziato1991' took the top spot for the 2.5M/5M stakes and the second biggest pot of the week. This time the game was a six-handed affair featuring some of the Monster Pot Report's most frequent contributors. 'viziato1991' opened up the action with a raise to 20M with a premium A♣K♣ holding. 'Kleppr' decided to play back and found a re-raise to 70M from the small blind with suited connectors. The Italian elected not to show any further strength and made a call.
The flop brought A♥5♦5♥ and 'Kleppr' kept up the aggression with a bet of 70M which the Italian called. The turn was the 9♣ and this time 'Kleppr' bet out 210M chips, which was called again. Finally the river delivered the 3♦ and 'Kleppr' moved all in for over 800M chips. 'viziato1991' clearly had no fear of a five and wasted no time in making the call for his last 570M chips. 'Kleppr' was forced to show his 8 high and the 1.85B chips slid across to 'viziato1991'.
And so to the main event, which registers third on the week's list of Monster Pots. It was the biggest hand played at 500K/1M and also the heftiest Omaha hand for the week. More significantly it was the biggest ever pot recorded relative to the stakes at a mind-boggling 1,636 big blinds.
The lucky winner was Germany's 'stavrospoker' who held 9♣4♠A♥A♣. An already strong holding improved significantly to top set with a flop of A♦6♠7♦. His opponents caught just enough of the board to keep going in the face of some big betting and raising, and by the 5c turn everyone was all-in. Miraculously given the action in the hand, nobody held the straight, and nor were they drawing to it. On the river the board paired with the 5h and 'stavrospoker' locked up the top full house. Nobody could show quads and so the pot went to the German in a veritable tsunami of virtual chips.
Lastly an honourable mention to 'How_Ya_Doo' & 'imgonna12' who provided the only action of the week at the 10M/20M stakes. They did battle in a half hour heads-up HORSE encounter that generated four pots in excess of 200M chips. Additionally the pair generated 100M+ chip pots in all five of the mixed game's disciplines. In the end 'imgonna12' got the better of it and banked 99M of his opponent's chips.
