Monster Pot Report: Moneymaker crushing the big games

It was a week of Monster Pots for one of poker's monster names this week, with 2003 WSOP Champion Chris Moneymaker leading the way with six pots of a billion or more. Among them was a 2.42B beast that weighed in as the largest of the week.

It took place at the former top stakes* of 5M/10M against 'De-Weirdo76'. Chris held pocket tens and would have been pleased to see a flop of undercards. He was likely even happier to see another ten on the turn to give him the top set. 'De-Weirdo76' remained undeterred though, and when a king hit the river he raised Chris's 420M chip bet all-in. He had missed a flush draw, but figured top-pair-decent-kicker would be enough. The showdown proved otherwise and Chris claimed the top spot!

There were also a number of 2B chip pots at the 10M/20M Pot Limit Omaha games. Chris won one for 2.21B and chopped another for 2B even, but the Omaha honours for the week went to 'tripticon' - who was also involved in the other two hands. His double-suited hand of 6d Ad 8s 9s progressed to a full house on a ten high board, which was good enough to overcome Chris's A high flush.

Despite the defeat, Chris turned around the previous week's losses to finish 4B chips ahead, to strengthen his position at the top of the Billionaire Club World Rankings. It was a much-needed result as 'uhjustmint' was on the verge of displacing him as #1 for the first time in weeks with his balance just shy of 11.5B chips.

Honourable mentions must also go to 'ldO_Oxx' (2.39B), 'iba ninja' (2.07B) and 'viziato1991' (2.02B) who all clocked in over the 2B mark. Despite the range of elite names and games, nobody was able to improve on the all-time top 10 this week.

Lower down the stakes, 'FunBrunette' was the top of the heap at the 2.5M/5M stakes, outkicking 'GQ Jay29' for 1.34B chips with both players showing down top pair.

At 1M/2M, 'hamid.felted' can feel aggrieved to not be the head of the Omaha table as he posted a 900 big blind mega pot. He flopped three of a kind and turned it into top full house with a blocker for quads. 'elinesor' was the poor soul who rivered an inferior full house and was forced to call off the majority of his vast 1.1B stack.

Finally, it was another Omaha hand that locked up the honours at 500K/1M. 'rckouba16' won 734M chips by showing down a superior straight to his two showdown opponents (K high Vs Q high) in a five way pot.

*A new 10M/20M game went live in the software this week.
