Weekend Review: TCOOP headlines busy weekend on PokerStars

It's difficult to know where to start after the weekend we've just had on PokerStars. Few have been as busy. It might actually be easier to list the names of players not involved in any of the action, rather than those that were - whether it was TCOOP, the Sunday Majors, or live events taking place in London and in Melbourne, Australia.

But picking through the reams of reports from events around the real and online poker world you begin to get the picture. For speed you went for the TCOOP, for tradition you went for the Sunday Majors. And while UKIPT London came to a close at the Hippodrome, those wishing to read about the best players in the game had it all presented to them and served with Australia Day shrimp with updates from Down Under.

So as far as the online poker world goes TCOOP dominated, albeit in staccato bursts. But let's start with the majors, this weekend headlined by Sunday Million winner mastervp888.

As you can read in Kristin Bihr's report, mastervp888 came out top yesterday, winning $119,694 after a five-way deal. Meanwhile Firka, from Finland, picked up a Warm-Up title after a four-way deal, details of which you can read in David Aydt's report.

Deals would be a theme for the weekend, particularly in TCOOP. It was not that they were common, more that they were commonly rejected, with at least two weekend TCOOP winners declining the numbers route and picking up an unadulterated first prize.

Billy "B8chatz" Chattaway was one of them, even proudly using the hashtag #NoDealBill. His decision worked out perfectly, winning Event #5, picking up $20,877.61. This all happened as he took part in the UKIPT Main Event, where he finished in the money in 86th place (£1,385).

Michael "SilentPurple" MacHugh flatly refused a deal, another a wise choice. He ran out the winner in Event 14, a no-limit Omaha hi/lo 6-max re-buy event. That was worth $28,728 to the Canadian.

But then, who needs a deal when you have a fortune teller? That was the kind of deal Robeebee preferred.

When action went heads-up in Event #17 Robeebee confessed that a fortune teller had promised him a $120,000 win. His opponent Maison Close could hardly prevent that sort of run good, and didn't. Robeebee picked up $110,000 for the win, and has a good case for compensation to the tune of ten grand from Mystic Meg.
