Action live and online, the PokerStars weekend has it all

Five things from this week on PokerStars.

EPT Barcelona under way

It's finally here. The European Poker Tour's 13th season kicked off this week in Barcelona with the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event. At the time of writing there were more than 1,400 entrants, but this figure is likely to have gone up considerably by the time you read this.

Alongside them is the €10K single re-entry event, not to be confused with the €10K single re-entry High Roller that closes off the festival. You can't tell the difference? Really? Well neither can we, but we go with what's written on the tin and apparently, while nearly identical (the high roller is eight-handed) we're reliably informed that one is and one isn't.

This weekend the Super High Rollers will get comfortable, and with a €50K entry fee you don't get this one mixed up. Then on Monday the Main Event begins, set to crown the first champion of the season next weekend.

All of which you can follow on the PokerStars Blog, with live updates from the major events of the festival, as well as EPT Live coverage starting with the Super High Roller final table on Monday.

WCOOP

You wait ages for a major online or live festival to start and then two come along at once, or at least one immediately after the other.

As well as the EPT the new WCOOP 2016 schedule was published, with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000,000 over the course of the 82 event schedule.

The series runs from September 4-26 with the Main Event starting on Sunday, September 25 with an eye-watering $10,000,000 guarantee. That makes it one of the richest poker tournaments of the year.

Check out the details on the Blog.

Bubble Rush and Spin & Go holiday

A brand new event in the tournament lobby, and a new promotion to talk about this week, both of which we've written about on the PokerStars Blog.

First there's the new Bubble Rush MTT. You'll find more than 20 of these each day, with buy-ins from $0.55 to $109. What are they all about? Well, they're designed to get you into the fun part of a tournament (deep stacked, long levels and a guaranteed payout) in about an hour.

Before the bubble the tournament has a hyper turbo format, but once into the money it reverts back to a regular event. A fast track to fun, as we called it, and prices to match every bank roll.

What's more between Monday and August 28 we're hosting a Bubble Rush Challenge. Every time you cash in a Bubble Rush event you'll win free entry into a $7,500 re-entry Bubble Rush freeroll the following day. A quick way to boost your bankroll in more ways than one.

Just open your challenges window in the tournament lobby to see what we're talking about.

Some of those winnings might even pay for a holiday. Or failing that you could win one in our new Spin & Go promotion.
Make that Spin & Go on Holiday.

As we detailed this week we're giving PokerStars players a free shot at a $5,000 luxury holiday package in our new Spin & Go on Holiday

If you didn't take the hint with the links above, read all about it here.

Top 5 hero calls

This week's featured video is about Hero Calls. I've never really managed to make one myself (what exactly do you call a failed Hero call?), but they make for some of the more draw dropping footage on PokerStars.tv.

You can check out our Top 5 and let us know what you think.

EPTNotLive

The latest episode of the #EPTNotLive podcast is now available, previewing the return of the EPT season. Here's a word from the team.

EPT_NotLive_19aug16.jpg

"It's the Barcelona Preview Show! James and Joe look ahead to the first leg of EPT 13, detailing the big tournaments taking place, the events being streamed live on PokerStars.tv, the #EPTLive freerolls running during the festival, and the changes being made to the EPT payout structure.

Liv Boeree joins the boys live from Munich Airport (!), and offers her thoughts on the payout change. She also talks about what she'll be playing and getting up to while in Barcelona, and explains why she isn't able to enter the Main Event this year. Finally, snooker enthusiast Andy Harper tries to prove that he's an ever bigger Phil Laak fanboy than Joe in this week's edition of 'Superfan vs Stapes'. #EPTNotLive"

That's another week in the books. Good luck to everyone playing on PokerStars this weekend, and to those roughing it in real life at the EPT. Send your thoughts and comments to us on Twitter: @PokerStarsBlog.
