Another week, another Spin & Go millionaire

pile-of-cash.jpgThe word "millionaire" was first uttered in English almost 200 years ago. Since then it has become a term used to describe something to aspire to, an indicator of financial success. The value of a million dollars has changed somewhat in that time, of course, but the term has stood the test of time.

One of poker's first millionaires was crowned right here on the Isle of Man back in 2000 - before PokerStars even existed. John Duthie took on all comers to win the first Poker Millions tournament just a few hundred yards from what would become the PokerStars office. The £1,000,000 was just about the richest single prize in poker history up to that point, but what John did next for poker - founding and running the European Poker Tour - eclipsed that achievement and has ensured his place in poker history.

Yesterday, player Korpieworm from Canada became the one-hundred-and-eighty-somethingth player to become a millionaire on PokerStars, just a week after jrww86 also added his name to the elite list.

A million dollar poker prize might not be a big deal to some, but to us at PokerStars making a millionaire is a reminder of what we are about. Changing someone's life at the turn of a card, providing an unforgettable winning moment. Spin & Gos have made the millionaire dream possible for just $100, and we are looking forward to making even more millionaires in 2017.

Congratulations to Korpieworm, who will likely be celebrating the best Christmas ever!
